So I have been forging since Halo 3, love it in Reach, and have past experiences with forum based websites. Glad to finally see a site be both. I have spent maybe a month with this site in the back f my mind, looking at all the creations you people have made and let me tell you, I am impressed by...well everything. (And as you can see I can get carried away with text sometimes.) One of my biggest problems on forge is trying to get feedback other than one or two friends saying "This is awesome!" its not. I can plainly see the bridge is wrong, there is no path there where there should be... so I figured I would come here and see what happens. anyway sorry for my long intro, (I abbreviated that for you, you are welcome.) anyway anyone with ab big foam finger to point me in a good direction would be helpful.
Sorry, no big foam finger here. BUT what I can do is point you in the right direction to get your map tested. Tester's Guild FTW
Welcome to Forgehub, As Noobles already linked you to the TG, I wont relink that... (or maybe I should, he's a pretty shifty guy). Anyway, at the TG you can post to get your map tested and it may have some pretty decent feedback presented on it. You can also sign up to the Tester's Guild to help out, we're always looking for new recruits. Being a part of something that helps the community out, often helps yourself as you'll be making a larger network of friends. The more friends you have the more map downloads your maps will get Also as a pretty standard approach, try to familiarise yourself with the Forum Rules as nobody wants infractions Above all though, have fun on the site
As a final point, quite a few people here write huge, detailed posts so I doubt you'll have a problem with large swathes of text. In fact, detailed replies to maps are far better than one line useless ratings.
Good to know. And Stevo, I had to read the rules to even post this, it was a surprise but an effective block. Ill be posting up more maps and such soon, I just have to get over this Mass Effect phase Im in and then bet into the Forge World again. That should take me... well Ill probably be back within the week. I have already got one map up though if anyone is interested and the amount of feedback has been... well honestly quite unhelpful. anyway its in the custom games under the title Paintball Yard if your interested. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Welcome. You're most likely only gonna get out of the community, what you put in. The more active you are and more you participate, the more you'll get out of it. A common mistake most new users make is to join and just post a map. I'd say a huge number of this community are 1 map wonders. They post one map, get little to no feedback, then you never hear from them again. Submit maps to the Tester's Guild before posting it. Submit previews in the Reach Forge Discussions forum. Participate in discussion. Provide decent map feedback for others. It gives you a chance to have your name seen more often, thus giving you a better chance of people taking notice of you and your maps. I know it sounds kinda shitty, but dozens of maps get posted daily... and your maps can get pushed to page 2 or 3 in a matter of hours. You increase your chances of having your maps seen if your name is recognized by the members who post more frequently.
Nah, that makes complete sense, I would do the same. Ill be working on some new maps soon and be posting them after, so Ill be back.
