ok, so when i geomerge and i make it go like "2 doors deep" into the ground it starts frizzing out, then settles. if i make it go any deeper it frizzes into the ground and l loose it. is there another way to do this, besides the double box thing cuz i dont like to do it that way. it happens when i try it in the wall/other structures(besides cranes) also. if anyone can help it'll be greatly appreciated!
You should line up the doors and then press A to sink the object in and then quickly save and quit. It works pretty well for me.
Yeh, when it gets past halfway of the whole box then it sinks. And like the others said, just hold the box and save and quit and it should stay there.
i would suggest placing a double box above the height you want the box merged and put guides around it than put respawn no and than start a new round and than spam the object you want geomerged in the guided area and while still holding the box press x and put double box run time min to run time max than when it spawns save and quit and it should be how you want it to be when you start a new game
I've found it easier to use interlocks at the edges of where you want the item to end up(rather than doors) to get a box lower in the ground. For some reason this loses the item below the map less often than the door method for me. Example: you want a box sunk one dumpster deep into the floor. 1: Place your box and all necessary side braces. I recommend teleporters for braces so you can still see your box between them. 2: Set the box and braces to not spawn at start and begin a new round. 3: Set up a dumpster with another box on top of it. Delete the dumpster. This is your pusher box, because it will interlock with your sinking box to a precise depth. 4: Spawn the box to be sunk and the braces. 5: Save map so you can recover in case of failure. Step 5 is a variable depending on results. 5a. Grab and release your sinking box, it should sink down only to the point where it is touching your pusher box. If it's not straight, grab and release until it is. 5b. Only if 5a causes the box to fall into the floor. Grab from a high angle and do not release your sinking box. Save&Quit. You should have your box sunk to the exact depth you chose with the pusher box, and in my expereince I've found this to be less likely to lose your sinking box.
ya ive now started using teleporters. thx guys i didnt know about the save and quit thing i feel like a n00b
Don't worry about it. I am a noob at forging too. Everyone has their own way of sinking double boxes.
Yeah, dude, don't get yourself stressed out, geo-merging is probably one of the most complicated and difficult things you could do in forge. And most of the time when you geo-merge it's just by luck or chance if it turns out perfect. And you need to try multiple times most often for each Merge. Anyway I normally save the map before I merge, and If I'm using Doors, sometimes I'll save the map if the first door-push went in right, and if the next one went in right, and the next, and so on and so forth. Anyway good luck.
