File Name: Geode Gametype: Grifball Gamertag: NOX STELLANTI Much of this map was birthed out of wanting to use Breakout surfaces because I liked how they interact with each other at different angles. They're almost entirely gapless and seamless, and at times mesmerizing to look at. As I started massing out the structure I wanted to make it look like a geode (or more accurately, a nodule). The idea is that the Forerunners had started carving out this rock long ago but due to unforeseen reasons just left it behind and didn't see fit to decommission or destroy it entirely. The UNSC eventually came upon the site and dug a Grifball arena into it, seeing the more exotic space as a way to hype the sport. The most elaborate setup went to creating the cinematics (GIFs in the gallery). I built studios on a far corner of the map specifically for this purpose. I wanted there to be a not-too-subtle sense of overproduction to things. There are logos and bright lights everywhere. The rest of the rock is practically unseen from the inside of the playing area but it's there. Play-wise I built everything as close as I could to the measurements in NOKYARD's template. The court is pretty well sealed in and the ceiling is pretty high. There's a small opening up top to get in and out when Forging. There are two openings for the Breakout spawns at each endzone where are scripted to close up after the players enter the court. There are kill volumes all around the barriers and I did my best to keep it all covered. It definitely needs playtesting. I've been using Forge since Halo 3 but I'm nowhere near the skill level that I commonly see around here, so it'd be great if other people could stress-test this and tear it apart so I know what I can fix or do better. I wanted to submit this to the initial Community Grifball hopper but it just wasn't anywhere near done enough. Thoughts?
Thanks! I wanted the sides that way too so that the entire shape is covered. I may go back in tonight and figure out a way to do that but I've hit the object limit already.
