Genome 3.0 This map is based on one simple idea. Two interlocking arched bridges sloping over/under each other to create some unique lines of sight and interesting gameplay. From there the surrounding structure was added to create an original and awesome arena map design. That was over a year ago in Halo 3, and it looked like this. For Reach I wanted to revisit the idea and make all of the important changes Halo 3's budget restricted me from making. Now it's bigger, it's prettier, and most importantly it's better. Anyone familiar with the original should feel right at home. In V2, I have eliminated the lights and other known problematic items and replaced them with better objects in order to combat framerate lag; then added some more colorful items to the streets to aid callouts. Second, I massively reworked the map's spawn system. All gametypes (especially Ball) should be way better now. Finally, I updated the weapon setup to comply with MLG's requests for contest submission. In V3 I did major aesthetic clean up. Now that I've worked with Reach forge a lot, I know the items far better than I did when I built this in the first week of Reach's release, and I've been able to fix the ugly looking areas from before. I also added the sniper and rockets back in and moved the middle stockpile flag and oddball to accommodate rockets. Thank you to all of the MLG forgers. I won't name names specifically, since I'm pretty sure just about everyone there has tested with me, suggested changes, built maps I found ideas on, and generally been an awesome group. dude. you can be first on every post if you want. this isn't youtube don't start that here... soo immature kk this map looks great. loving the contour on those bridges. only problem i got is that it reminds me of zealot. seems like this map is gonna be a nade frenzy. although its fairly open on the top which is a lot better than zealot. :3 great forging. KEEP IT UP and next time wait for the posting to slow down and youll map will get more views
How the hell is this map on the third page already? I have yet to play this (every time you sent me an invite, it said the game was full... ), but I'm sure it'll be amazing. Genome in Halo 3 was awesome, and you've made the improvements to make it even better. I can't wait to see what you'll be able to so with new, original designs in Reach.
Thanks. I hope you're able to get some games in on the map and let me know how it plays. Reach in general is a nade frenzy, but I haven't had many problems with that issue beyond Reach's inherent issues with constant nading. And I've tested it a lot. Yeah, sorry about that. I go down my friends list trying to invite people and either get 2 people and can't play a full game or I get 12 people trying to join and I get messages about my game being full. You're on at peak hours I guess, bad luck. Other than this, I have no desire to revisit old designs so it's brand new stuff from here on out. I already know my next project . Downloaded. Also, Can I ask whether this is designed for MLG as it has AA's on map? Or can it be used for standard competitive play i.e. Team Slayer etc. or even objectives.
Before V1 was out, this was just a competitive map because there wasn't yet anything new to add to make it an MLG map. When V1 came out I added AAs to the map and called it Genome 1.1. The upcoming V2 will also have AAs on the map, but I do plan to have a normal competitive version of V2 so that standard gametype players can enjoy the spawn/geometry changes that the MLG version is going to have. V2 should be out next week, I'm running test games this weekend so that I can update the map submit it for use on the MLG pro circuit and I will update the download link here for normal and MLG versions then. And you can play non-MLG gametypes on any MLG map. The only thing that you might find lacking is some of the needler/repeater type weapons. Don't let a three letter acronym discourage you from playing any excellently designed maps you might find in the MLG section, they'll work just fine on standard Slayer.
That was his point, it has AA's on map thus could be designed for MLG specifically. But it'll play default settings fine imo, I pefer 110% speed/jump and sprint to MLG settings and have played a few FFAs with friends on this map with those settings, worked like a charm.
I don't discount a map based on three letter acronyms. Four letter acronyms on the other hand... Jokes aside, I'm just clarifying the map details.
Updated the map to V2. I alleviated some of the framerate lag, among other things. Most significantly I created a proper standard (non-MLG) version for people who prefer that. That version is the one linked in the OP, except where noted.

3.0 updated. Check it out and recommend it to your friends if you like it! Change list: Snipers added back from the early testing versions, but this time with just 1 spare clip. Rockets added back, replacing shotgun. Evade replaces Armor Lock Vastly improved aesthetics. I admire (and took ideas from) anyone who was able to make an extremely clean looking map with these Reach pieces. That's a talent I do not have without all of your help. Also, I messaged a mod about it a while ago but nothing happened. This thread would probably be more appropriate in the MLG section. I knew that this map would be put in MLG's map pool, it definitely deserves to win after all it is the most original + amazing map I've seen for this game so far.

Man Ladnil I bet you're feeling pretty dumb right now, thinking back to when you were close to "scrapping" this map. This map has definitely been one of my favorites ever since it was created. Anyways, congratulations on the feature.
