Though I have no problem making maps for me and only me, sometimes I wonder about you. Upon occasion I ask myself if there is some really dead simple thing I could add to appease you. I'm not one for supporting gametypes, because I never play them unless it's some silly little side game, so I just don't know how to set them up. Hell I don't even know where to place spawns for team slayer. I'm hoping one of you might tell me if there is any gametype that may play well on my compact, destructive little map. So if you have a moment, take a quick peak at my sad attempt at a map tour, (first time creating a vid) I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know what might work. The map is pretty much green lit for gameplay but will likely forever remain in aesthetic editing purgatory. With all of the amazing maps getting forged, I'm almost too embarrassed to post maps anymore. temp name BCtest gamertag preacher001
If anything, I think it would be cool to setup an Oddball gametype for your map? It requires some gametype tweaking, but seems like a fun map to control ball on. There's even water to throw it in to reset. I always try to set up different gametypes for maps I put together because then it's there in case I want to try it, and it shows a little more effort into the work. That's just me though. Maybe try out a different gametype and see how it feels.
I think I may have attempted odd ball on the original reach version of this map. Since I don't know the gametypes very well, I don't know if I set it up right. I guess I could have a look at the spawn points I used back then.
To increase the likelieness of having your map featured it would be wise to set gametype support. But what do I know, I'm a forge noob. lol
Weapon placement plays fairly well, but I need to test ammo counts. The weapon gameplay on the other hand, feels a little like getting hit in the face with a bat while being shot as someone lights you on fire. Since the 343 Team currently doesn't understand the concept of privacy you can feel free to grab the map named BCtest under my gamertag preacher001. You can also find the original Reach map under the name Baltis Causeway. Warning the Reach version is choppy.
@GSwizz41 I haven't even thought of my maps as being in the ballpark of a Feature. I'm just happy if somebody gets some good rounds in on it. One guy posted my Revenant Rampage Arena map on youtube which was kinda nice though.
You should get set up some objective and do some good ole' fashioned play tests. I personally wouldn't want to see your map to go waste. I am not a huge forge expert, but your aesthetics look great. My eyes never got bored watching your map. Good color and excellent light usage in my opinion. The good use of different shapes and structures was pleasant to watch. Good work!
Thanks for the feedback. Though I personally like alot of what I have done in different areas of this map, I kind of hate them together. I like that they are all distinct but then also hate that they aren't exactly thematically the same. Maybe I'm too overcritical. It's just every time I look at the map as a whole it bugs the **** out of me. I just can't make what appears in my head show up in Forge. This map will never be done.
