    Hello all,

** Recently signed up as I have a few questions about a custom map & game variant that I’m creating, but being new to forging, there are a few issues which I have not been able to resolve. Apologies if I have posted in the incorrect forum.
    *
The game type I am trying to set up is based on 1 flag. The idea is that the red team defend the flag (this would encompass the red team not being able to pick up or at the very least score the flag), whilst 1 or more teams try to capture it. I would like for the point to be scored as soon as the flag is grabbed by a player and for only 1 point needed to win the game. So far I have been able to create the flag using the correct ‘ctf_flag_return’ parameter, but have been unsuccessful in scoring it. I have a score plate down and have tried various things to make it work but without success.
In addition when I run the game in the custom lobby, I am only currently allowed to choose red or blue team, despite setting it up as a ‘multi’ flag game.
I would also like for the red team to be declared the winners if all other teams are unsuccessful at capturing the flag.

If this game variant is not possible with flag, would be possible with any other game styles.

Also, as a small thing, I would also like to know if it’s possible to set up a re-spawn “checkpoint”. E.g. players cross a certain boundary, so that every time they are killed after crossing said boundary they re-spawn at a place further along the map rather than at the start.

    To Surmise:
    *
    Game Type: 1 Flag
    Number of teams: 2-6
Number of players: 2 max on red. 3 max on all others.
To win: For Red team – stop all teams from scoring. All other teams - 1 flag capture.

Many thanks in advance for your advice.

To make it so that you score as soon as you pick up the flag, you can make it so that the flag scoring zone is exactly where the flag spawns. This way, as soon as someone picks up the flag, they get a point for bringing it "home".

Setting it up as a "multi" flag game means that there are 2 teams both with the goal of taking the enemy's flag and bringing it "home", as opposed to the one-flag gametype, where one team defends and the other team is on offense. I think that if you want more than 2 teams (red/blue) in a flag objective game, you would also have to set up an initial spawn point for those teams as well as the required flag objectives objects (not sure on this however).

I'm am not sure if it is possible to limit a team to a certain amount of players, but I doubt you can without honor rules.

Below is my idea to make your gametype work. Keep in mind however that I don't know if anything below is possible with Forge 2.0, and that I'm only going off of what I have memorized after going through the available options:

I think the best way to go about your idea is to create a multi-team CTF gametype/map where all teams' (EXCEPT red team) flags are somewhere on the map you can't reach, somewhere out of bounds like behind a wall, but still within the map's safe zone. For example, there are 3 teams, red, blue, and green. For the red team to score, they have to bring home a flag from either the blue team or the green team's base. Problem is, red team can't score because the blue/green team's flags are behind a wall (*this leads me to another point I will talk about at the end). The only teams that can score are blue and green because the only flags that can be picked up are the red team's (red cannot pick up their own flag). This pretty much puts red team on constant defense, and both blue and green team are fighting for the only flag on the map. Now, you can't make it so that red team automatically wins if either blue or green team doesn't get to the flag however. I'm not sure how you can fix this.

*Going through the required objects guide thread, one of the objects under the CTF section is a flag spawn marker, but it says that it's also the flag score zone. I haven't messed around with it on forge myself, but the required forge objects guide leads me to believe that the flag spawn marker and score zone is one and the same. This means that where ever your flag spawns, is also the same place you must bring back the enemy flag to score it. If so, then the suggestion I posted above will be impossible, seeing as how you want the blue/green team to score as soon as they pick up the red team's flag. It wont work because they would have to bring the flag back to where their own team's flags spawns. I know that it was possible with HALO 3's Forge mode to place the flag spawn and flag score points separately, but I'm not sure if it is possible on Halo Reach's Forge mode. Someone please clarify.

I would try a neutral flag game with one flag point. Make it so the flag return points for all teams (apart from red) include the flag spawn point in the return areas. You might also want to make flag carrier traits to 0% movement so that the red team can't pick up the flag and run away with it. Unless you want them to, in which case you should make the other teams' flag return points as big as the map.

That gametype does sound pretty interesting, the only fault in doing neutral flag is that you would then have to manually change the teams in the lobby every time
