This is a map I have been working on with my friend BurningThunder4. It is a large map built in Alaska that primarily uses terrain, but has small buildings scatterred throughout in a pseudo-symmetrical layout. The map is well suited for 8-12 players, similar to Tempest. Suggested gametypes include Team Slayer, Bro Slayer, Multi-Flag, One-Bomb, and Race. Weapons List: DMR x8 Plasma Rifle x2 Needler x2 Grenade Launcher x2 Focus Rifle x2 Rocket Launcher x1 Mongoose x4 Warthog x2 Ghost x2 More screenshots: Overview from Canyon Side: Multi-Flag: Race: Rocket Race: Look for the map in a week or so in the Competitive Maps section!
I believe that's me looking badass in the warthog turret, laying down suppressive fire on blue base as my teammate rushes up the ramp to pull the flag... that is, until Schnitzel dropped a rocket and destroyed us for an overkill. Definitely enjoyed multiflag a lot, and race was pretty fun as well.
Ah, natural maps are a marmite thing. Some people like the tranquil and relatively peaceful environments (that aren't grey!) whilst some people think it's just lazy (why Forgotten should be called Misunderstood) I'm in the former camp, thinking you've managed to craft some really interesting encounters. Your addition of rocks makes for an engaging layout, it's basically a mini Hemmorhage but with the teleporters at either side and Rockets in the middle, so it's got to be good. Another plus is that the map didn't turn into Standoff, where everyone simply sprayed BRs across the map. Your layout encourages movement to get to the power weapons, whilst the Focus Rifles let you be a defensive support player if need be. This is a great format and a great map, with a few tweaks it might be perfect. I still think you should rework the bases a little, but it's just a matter of opinion.
This map is quite a bit of fun. Especially for flag. The new center building actually helps with orientation, along with making the middle less bland. I really like the focus rifle on this map, I rarely like focus rifles but you did well making them useful here. I haven't played it for a few days so may I ask where the GL spawns are? Oh, and why didn't you picture my epic mongoose splatter on our epic flag run? D:
The GLs now spawn at orange and green base. I took all of these shots from our games yesterday, sadly, I don't still have the films from before that.
Yes, the map teleporters have been fixed. I've updated with some rocket race screenshots as well. The map is mostly done, but still needs some tweaking. BurningThunder should be posting this in no more than a week.
Tested this map a couple times, and i think it gets better everytime. The changes on the teleporters are nice. It's not just going from side to side now. Playing territories worked pretty well...although my team got pooped on pretty badly -.- Focus Rifles still annoy me. pssst, put snipers with 0 clips
So we played 8v8 on here today. It went surprisingly well. The spawns actually worked well under the pressure, and it wasn't overcrowded.
Just have to say, this is one of the best BTB maps I've played. I keep comparing it to Hemmorhage, but I actually think it's better... you can go on foot and feel like you have a purpose. Also, epic debate! Sniper vs Focus Rifle.
Omg definitely Sniper over that PoS ROFL Lazer. Numerous time have I been killed by that thing that it's not even funny anymore. LoL
This is a great place for a map, the landscape is awesome aswell as the views around it, don't know why it isn't used more often. Anyways, great map and well presented
probably because the region is so asymmetrical and terrain-heavy, with lots of hills and static objects such as trees and rock clusters. most forgers seem to prefer areas like the canyon or quarry that are much flatter and emptier. honestly this map looks awesome, especially since uses such complicated, uneven terrain yet still manages to be fun and balanced (though this is going by what other people who have actually tested it have said, not personal experience)
Breaking News: The debate is over, Focus Rifle or GTFO! I just need to adjust some spawns in asymmetrical territories, and the map will be done. BurningThunder should post it some time this week.
WTF is this sh*t!? God dammit. Well it was worth a try. Sorry I wasn't there to rage about it with you guys seeing as my dad has been bogging it all day playing L4D. But maybe I'll be on tomorrow to try out the new and improved Frontier.
