    Fractal

The obvious map which springs to mind when looking at Fractal, is Guardian. In terms of design, Red room is the only area which is heavily influenced by guardian (with the basement having a lockout feel.) Other areas of the map are original, but the flow will feel familiar.

The main problem I felt with guardian was the stale gameplay which was due to the lifts. My original intention was to design a guardian style map, without the lifts and instead more routes to traverse around the map, giving a circular flow. Of course it is also beneficial to hold a set up. You will find that it is difficult to move from Green to Red, as well as from Yellow to Blue. This means that ideal setups are holding both Green and Blue or alternatively Yellow and Red.

    The map contains:

1 Snipe - (Top Green, not spawn at start)
1 Camo - (Yellow/Blue Elbow, not spawn at start)
1 Grenade launcher - (Top Mid)
    1 Jetpack - (Bottom Mid)
    DMRs
    2 Needle Rifles
    2 Frag grenades
    2 Plasma grenades
2 Healthpacks (Bottom Blue and Bottom Red)

    Now for some more pictures

    Overview (With Top Mid removed)

Thanks to everyone who helped and tested.

Run games, leave feedback, please. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Very cleanly forged. A good layout and a very interestingly chosen spot to place a map. I love the way you used the grass and rock, it works well with your map. Nice job.

I agree with SquidMan33 the place that you chose to forge the map works perfectly. The only thing that I might change is the Sea Stack rock in the first picture. That rock doesn't seem to fit with the other rocks near it. You might want to try to use more flat rocks, if you have them, to make that area a little more pleasing. Overall this map is beautiful. The fifth picture really show the amount of color that you added to your map. Very well forged map.

Your map name is very misleading. I expected to see a Fractal...
Or at least something inspired by a Fractal.

However it does look like an interesting layout for a map and I do see the resemblance to Guardian, but given the amount of Budget you have left.. I think some Fractal Aesthetics would have been a nice touch.

This map looks oddly familiar... I think I may have played this with SecretSchnitzel and various other members of the MLG community. I highly doubt this is a different map.

Are you sure? Because that is a pretty serious accusation! Nevertheless, I like the layout of this map! Your choice of location is also very interesting! What made you decide to place it on the side of the rock? The only reason I ask, is because I have not seen many, if any at all, use this part of the location! I also would have to comment on the sea stack! I know that they are very enticing to use, because they are so big! And I like how you can use this rock to make a jump from the bottom level, yet it just feels out of place! If you have the budget/rocks I would try and switch that out!

You are quickly becoming one of my favorite forgers of all time. Forgive me for not commenting on your other maps. This map has so many elements of design done so right, that I just had to say something about it... It's awesome!

This was definitely in my top 5 from that last submission over at MLG. I would contest that it is neither room based nor particularly vertical, but it plays better than most of the rest of the submissions did, and that's what really counts.

I'm not sure whether this was on the list Tak gave to KC and the other guys in charge at MLG, but it should be.

    @ Squidman - thx dude

@ KoO - thx, the seastack will be kept as there is a sneaky slide jump you can do on it and i am reluctant to place more objects on the map due to possible performance issues.

@ Dirt jockey - I can understand your disappointment, but i am against unnecessary aesthetic as they can lead to framerate issues.

@ 4shot, yeah im originally from the MLG community, so thats why you would have played it with Schnitzel. don worry i noez st33lz it.

@moth - i built it there so i could use that nice bit of natural geometry on the side of the rock =]

@Panic - thank you, more to come =]

    @Ladnil - don worriez
