First make it fun. Second make it right. Third make sure it is still fun. Fourth make it pretty. Fifth make sure it is still fun. This is the general process I've settled on now after making Forge maps for awhile. The Forge community and the tool itself has taught me a lot, and this mantra is what I hope will help me to make the best maps I can create. Here are other general tips I learned from my experience: Before diving into a project consider what you have to work with and the budget, especially on a large project like BTB maps While working on your project constantly keep in mind how much budget you're at and how it may alter your original design Every project is a learning experience Remakes of maps are great for learning the tools, technical skills, and gaining recognition if they're faithful recreations Be mindful of where and how you share your maps. Certain communities will be more interested in specific kinds of maps than others and no one appreciates spammers. Feedback from anyone is valuable so be open to critique regardless of your experience, or their inexperience Actively show your map to people you don't know as it gives you new perspectives you wouldn't have had otherwise If you're Forging and not having fun take a break and come back recharged Make what you want to make, not what others imply you should be making "Don't make it perfect, make it good enough." - Anonymous
