You guys need to realize that 343 DOES care about the game, it drives me nuts seeing people say 343 doesn't care about this or that. They care. They continued the legacy because they love it, not just to make money. It's their first fullfledged game. It only gets better from here on out. Thats why they continue to update every week, and why were seeing title updates. They want it to be a good experience for people, yet they get so much undeserved hate for not having everything the way you want it. It's a great game, that is only getting better.
I'm just a little annoyed with the new lighting system. I just finished my Orbital remake before the patch hit, and I spent a LOT of time making the lighting only affect certain locations, making the dark tunnels dark, while other rooms looked well-lit (by spawning them after the lighting is generated), but now there all of these patches on the map where a lot of pieces contrast so horribly.
^This may be true, I just wish they'd hurry up with important updates instead of updating random and unimportant stuff all the time. I mean, come on, it's been ages since they announced the fileshare system and they still haven't released it. I'm sure they care about the game but at least try and show this by doing stuff that actually proves of their caring.
Have'nt you heard of free milk and cows? I am sure they are working on it right now, but think of it this way, we are all using our fileshares to hold our maps, and others are able to download them from our fileshares too, so why be in a hurry to spend money on having servers up and running to house our maps? I have been a supporter of 343i/CA, thinking they would fix all the bugs, but they are taking their time in getting the important stuff taken care of, for now, they have a free system that allows us to share maps, why hurry?
Because it's far less effective than having a system that can be managed on your pc. Sharing maps can be done indeed but you can't really utilize screenshots or promotional articles to advertize your maps like you can with an online system. I'm sure ForgeHub's population would increase again by the time that online system is finally up an running, for instance, because it makes sharing maps a lot easier. But yeah, 343i don't really care too much about it considering their recent priorities in patch fixes, and that's probably why they don't hurry up with working on it and releasing it.
Yeah and it's not because of some minor errors in forge or matchmaking. Agree or Disagree but everyone that has been die-hard halo fans that I know of are just tired of Halo. They could add the most epic maps, add a more in-depth forge, fix every SMALL error you guys speak of... and that still would not change them being tired of halo. Spartan Ops was nothing more of a continuing on of the campaign really with shorter missions. The basic concept of halo hasn't changed since the beginning and people are just tired of the halo concept. I believe Bungie knew this and that's why they moved onto a new project. CoD has the big stick just because it's based off a realitic shooter. Look at Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, they owned the console gaming (FPS wise) when they first made it onto the console then Halo was released and destroyed that realistic shooter reign. It was something new. Then Gears of War and CoD came out. Gears of War struck gold at first b/c it was new then people became aware of how shitty a lot of the elements were, especially matchmaking (that was garbage). Now people have made there way back the realism and it has been CoD dominant for some time now if you guys haven't noticed. Halo 3 was like a draw then after that it was a downhill. Halo 3 gave the fans everything, anything since then has just evolved some. Unless 343 drastically changes Halo, the population will remain low. I love Halo the way it is though but that's just me. Edit: Think if a new in-depth FPS came along that was as good as Halo and featured a way more-depth Map Editor and focused it's library of maps around fan-made. I guarantee it would steal some of the audience from here, if not most. It seems that is what people want on here and halo just doesn't deliver.
Do you love Big Team Battle the way it is in matchmaking right now? with the maps too small for DMRs (DMR camping with no map movement) and every single person having a plasma pistol and 2 sticky grenades so vehicles are almost useless? That's really my only issue with Halo 4 worth bitching about. I love the game as much as anyone can, but I can't play BTB in matchmaking the way it is. P.S. ... Need more good official maps too.
To be honest I never loved BTB. Too much chaos and no order unless you're rocking a 6-8 party, it's nothing but a FFA.
I hear ya... that's certainly what it is now. I didn't notice BTB being chaotic at all in Halo 3. In Reach it got more chaotic because that's when Halo changed and became much faster, but it was still a lot of fun. I can't seem to have fun with it in Halo 4 because it's more chaotic than I ever imagined it would be. Maybe I just love vehicles and they don't really have those in 4 vs 4, except for Harvest map.
Agree @ random chaos in BTB MM. I don't understand. If there was no reason to be unsatisfied with Halo, why would they "be tired?" Can you clarify? How would it be just as good as Halo if it had the above qualities? Are you saying the multiplayer was just as good as Halo or that the multiplayer suffered in comparison to Halo to make up for the better map editor?
It's very simple, they get tired of the same experience. It's in our blood to get tired of the same thing over and over and playing the same game (7+ Halo games now) gets pretty repetitive. It has nothing to do with being satisfied or not. There's very few game franchises out there that have continued on for this long and still remain towards the top of the list. Right now all my halo "buds" are into the new Alien game which is suppose to be quite a fun FPS experience.
For me, I don't get tired of Halo gameplay because there is no other FPS game that feels like it. So each new game is an update on what I think has the best competitive first-person shooter mechanics. My other top FPS games are Unreal and Quake, which are only on PC... or they should only be played on PC. I was really looking forward to the Aliens: Colonial Marines game (Gearbox/SEGA)... but the reviews say it is horrible. IGN gave it a 5.0 on PC and 4.5 on console. I know not everyone agrees with IGN but they can't be that far off. I usually agree with their ratings, at least for the most part. So I won't be dishing out $60 on it. They say it feels unfinished and the A.I. for the aliens are pretty much mindless drones. If I do end up getting it, I'll have to wait till it is much cheaper. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/12/aliens-colonial-marines-pc-review
Thanks for clarifying. I think that "getting tired," as you put it, might be a factor, but it's too much to say 343/Bungie in Reach didn't contribute to the decline of Halo. As for the Alien game, I was curious and looked it up. I'm guessing you're not talking about Aliens: Colonial Marines, because that got mostly bad reviews.. EDIT: ninja.
