Does anyone now what happened to this feature that was leaked and 343 admitted to be in the works back in January, I believe. If you don't remember it, it was a feature that allowed us to build a grouped object and then we could save that grouped object independent of the map. The grouped object could then be shared and loaded into any map. Pretty awesome right? So WTF happened?
I'm pretty sure that won't come until we get an in game file browser or after (How else would we "share" things.) They're still working on that I assume, so I wouldn't say the idea is abandoned, but there are other things they need to do before we can get to that.
The screenshot we saw way back then was from in game, so I doubt we need a game side file browser. Not that it wouldn't be helpful. It seems odd to put it on the back burner since the basic functionality had seemed to have been built. Unless it was just a visual mock up. Either way it would be nice to know for certain if it is in the works or cancelled.
I think June (E3) will be a relaunch (of sorts) of Halo 5, announced on stage with a bunch of new features, maps, Firefight etc and free on Games With Gold.
I really want this feature! I have what I call "set pieces" that I like, but can't really seem to know how to work into a full blown map. I have seen other people in the same situation post a start of an idea, but not a finished product. I would love to create design statments or set pieces like urns, or a statue, or a tilevpattern for a floor for others to grab and riff off of for their own maps. It may make one more of a basket weaver then a forger, but being able to create and share...waiting...
Imagine Forge had themed updates that included texture packs. One month there is a Forge update, for the next 2 weeks you have a similar themed Forge object contest, then 2 weeks after that you have the corresponding themed map contest. It could really help push map diversity. I don't feel like Halo's Forge has to stick to being a strict, traditional Halo theme. Adding stuff just for fun is pretty cool too. People have already built some cool set pieces that would be nice to trade around.
I solemnly promise to make forging a bit more interesting if they can put a rush on this feature plus game event access in scripting. I'm gonna try to get some templates made up soon that have custom game mechanics set up, but need proper forgers to build maps around. Templates are ok, but the group warehouse thing is the real deal. Almost got the old style soccer ready, but it's a little depressing remembering how well soccer worked originally. This Forge almost lets us cut loose and make some fun new stuff, but there's always ALWAYS ALWAYSa roadblock to getting it working right... Usually near the end when nearly everything else is good. I almost got proper scoring working, but a stronghold base doesn't seem to work if you ever despawn it. Sorry, had to rant. Please add this group sharing feature. Sharing is caring, but you won't let us care. And we wanna care. Care hard. Heheh
Sorry for my ignorance, but for the sake of clarity do you mean, a button that keeps all of the the groups in place but removes their grouping? If so, that would be a pretty solid feature as well.
No, something that temporarily ignores groups and allows you to select individual objects within groups with selecting the entire group. Right now you have to complete get rid of a grouping in order to select one object and then you have to go back and select every single object again to recreate the group.
Just select the group, hold up on the d pad to un group. Then right bumper select the piece you want to remove from the group. Hold up on the D pad to re-group and you're done. It's super easy to do what you want already.
