I've been messing around a bit tonight, got something interesting going.

I honestly thought they'd have more pieces to play around with, but I suppose we have to take what we get. Not that I'm complaining, but from an article I read on IGN, I got the impression that there'd be tonnes more objects added to the palette.

I was kinda hoping there'd be an object added to the FX section that allowed time of day and weather changes, but I guess that was reaching too far for the stars... :\

all pieces that were black are white... now everyone can stfu about noisy contrasting pieces ahaha. but everything has a grey tinge to it so it looks weird as hell... i like ravine's colour schemes better

Jungles can now be mixed with cities and parks can now be created. :) Hell you can even build a city to resemble a recent flood on the streets. This is awesome and allows me to be even more creative with the aesthetics.

far out the grey tinge to all the pieces I can tell ill get sick of real quick, also all the pieces are grey so there is no variation in them and all maps will look dull

Urban and "real world" environments will be so much easier to make believeable. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

The video above doesnt appear to show shadows...

Otherwise I'm excited about the new. It's not a lot of peices, but they look like they'll work wonders.

Just planned out a map with the water. because water. :D

The loss of black-colored objects (hopefully it's not total?) is an error in judgment. Yes, texture clash can be annoying, but the ability to add some amount of contrast to a design can really make a map shine aesthetically and provide for player orientation. I hope it's not all as samey as you guys are implying.

On the other hand, huge rocks and trees? AWESOME.

Jesus christ this map is big. You can place blocks so far away from the big island that you have to look through a scope to see it.

And there is also a green-screen piece, which I'm sure machinima makers are just gushing over.

Let me give you two objects as a example. The Wall Coliseum and the Bridge pieces, lets begin with the Wall Coliseum. You know that there is a big blue line on both sides of the object in the other forge maps right? Here that is the same color as the block is, I believe the sides are still black though, don't know that for sure, I will check it. And the bridge pieces are completely the same color, brown/white. But those tree's and rocks are so AWEESOMEE! Right now I am going to try to create a big open plain surrounded with tree's and rocks, I hope its going to look good because I think I have a good idea for a Flood map. The lighting effect and the waving of the tree's looks pretty. :)

Don't care about the wall coliseum (always had ugly texturing) and the bridges are negligible - but how about the bottoms of buildings? I've started using those for flooring quite a bit. My most recent map uses flipped over buildings for floors and in some places, containers for walls, so you get a nice bit of high contrast with these black corridors but white upper levels. Another one with a high-contrast look is the landing pad, which is black on Ravine and Impact; hopefully they didn't make that off-white also.

Of course, now that we have perfectly flat natural geo, we'll have a new way to create more contrast. :)

I still am waiting on some "hill" objects - as in, actual grassy hills that merge neatly with the ground. Rudimentary terraforming is overdue in forge. Hopefully in Halo 5!

If you take a teleporter node and phase it into any of the islands near the top and go through it, you get a little cavelike rock area to forge in. Check it out!

    Wat.

How big is it exactly? That's awesome. Wonder if it was even remotely intentional... probably not, I imagine they'd give us an actual access point if it was.

Is there collision inside? I.E. if you go against the "cave" wall will you be back outside?

It depends on the island you go in, but they are all pretty nicely sized.

Nope, all terrain is solid, although some of it is transparent.

I'd recommend you check it out for yourself, It's ridiculously easy to get into.

Transparent? No biggie. Nothing a few well-placed rocks can't fix.
