I don't know when this update for Halo 5 will come out but these are a few ideas I think should be incorporated to forge block textures. - Mud - Rust - Dampness - Carpet texture - Weather blockers
Mud is grime, rust is grime, dampness is setting the metallic to 10, especially for forerunner texture. Carpets are pretty easy to make, like c'mon. So the only thing on this list we need. Weather blockers. Prob wouldn't be blockers, more like zones.
I really want weather blockers. If you make a map with rain or snow it just looks weird when you go into a structure and its still pouring down inside.
Some kind of Water volume would be great. I know it would eat up a ton of memory per map and lighting but imagine if you could add water where you wanted, waterfalls, pre fab streams, rivers. Tidal is a great asset, but I feel like more could help a lot. Also, can we get rid of the feature where if a block is touching water on tidal the footsteps sound sloshy? Even if it's metal and above the water it sounds like I'm hip deep in mud
Can they please add trait zones back again. That was actually a good thing they had in Halo 4 and idky they took it out. Also a generic "Exit" sign would be appreciated. The emergency exit sign is nice but sometimes it seems to extreme to use for some maps. And this might be controversial, but I think bringing back those script specific blocks back from Halo 2 anniversary might be nice and a user-friendly way to introduce newcomers of forge to the scripting mechanic. Ex: EMP Device, dedicated gates, destroyable windows, etc. Finally, PLEASE allows us to script zones like soft kill boundaries. Just a simple spawn and despawn would help me greatly.
What I want to see are -Invisible infection blockers, since for whatever reason team blockers don't work in infection. I thought this would've been released by now. -Glitched weapons that can use regular ammo, instead of only reqs ammo. -Glitched weapons that don't have to be on pads. -Iron-sighted weapons (that's what I use them for). -Sentry turrets (like Halo 4's Dominion had). -Invisible switches that can be despawned. -A random weapon generator or pad. This is one of the biggest concepts in forge's history. Instead of all the crude methods we've tried in the past, why not just implement one? -Patch for broken scripts -Fists/Empty hands for gametypes. It would be a lot cleaner than having players spawn with an empty plasma pistol for no reason. -Spheres and Semi-spheres (2x2, 4x4, 8x8, 12x12) -CURVED STAIRCASES AND RAILINGS -Kill/damage wall, something that you can place down or can be activated like a trap, such as a wall of electricity or fire, that has a thin size rather than a wide radius. -Trait zones (obviously) -Damage zones, similar to soft kill boundaries, except instead of a countdown timer, it literally damages your health/shields. -Custom Powerups, like in halo 3, where you can give a powerup specific traits. -Placeable seats, (i.e. hold x to sit). Great for machinimas, custom or transport vehicles, etc. Then we wouldn't need to use the back side of a mongoose anymore -Brute weapons like the Mauler, Brute Shot, Spiker, and of course the Chopper vehicle. 100% none of these are happening though. -Command Posts or capturable zones like in Warzone, it would make for amazing large-scale games and maps. You can capture a post and let teammates spawn from there, until the enemies take it over, etc. -Nothin like a good ol' flamethrower in a video game, right?
Luckily, that's only a glitch that happens in forge. Walking sounds like normal ground in custom games.
Those are some really great ideas Dink, hopefully 343 forge crew considers them when planning a new update in Halo 5 or in Halo 6.
