Im not sure if you can widely recommend the SIlmarillion to everyone, isnt it written more like an timeline/history book than a novel? I havent read it but i have read about it.
These are many of my favorite books, too. The others are ones I have been considering. Nice list! This is exactly the series I was going to recommend. Total awesomeness. I will have to check this out. I have actually read The Silmarillion. It's paced very differantly than LOTR, but equally facinating. You guys already said most of what I was going to say. But I gotta contribute something: If you could possibly stand to read a non-fiction, The World Without Us by Alan Weisman was so very interesting.
Right on, Predicide. I can't wait for that next book! But for the reason I came back here; I can't believe I forgot this: The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Best work he's ever done, and I've pretty much read all of his early works. Hell, even the graphic novel adaptation by Peter David and Jae Lee is totally bad ass.
Yes, they are just trying to get their post counts up, so they can fail at applying to be a guildar lollllllllssssssssz like this guy: every post i have seen him make is a complete fail. _____ anyways, yea i have been meaning to check out that "game of thrones" business... have u guys read the wheel of time series? i was reading it but i got distracted by something and i never finished
Well, now that they've put in their one post, at least they won't come back here. I haven't read them yet, but someone gave me all of the 'Wheel of Infinity' (as I call them) tomes a while back. My friends rave about it, but it seems too much like work with the sheer number of books out. The author died several months ago and I don't think he finished telling his story, if there was ever supposed to be one. Game of Thrones won't disappoint...
Yea i started reading it when i was on injury at work last year but i never finished it feels kind of pointless to read now if he is dead. RIP homie.
Alex Rider series ftw. I'm on the last book right bow. I'm sad that I'm already on the last one, those books are so good.
no offense to you or the series, i have not read it, but... Alex Rider sounds like the lamest **** character name an author could ever think of
Well, you can't judge a book by its cover. Literally. If you like books, and you read this series, then you would see that it is alot better than it may sound.
Go Harry Potter!.................No, but seriously the Eragon book series was good, and Artemis Foul is also pretty great. ~mackmack5
I have actually read some of his books and they are pretty well written of the ones I have finished. I usually don't read but if I do it is usually an adventure, mystery, kind of book.
It's not necessarily funny, but Last Man on the Moon by Gene Cernan is awesome. It's about The Apollo 17 mission, which was the last manned voyage to the moon. It's a great read; all those old astronauts were totally ballsy daredevil test pilots rather than just scientists. I'd recommend that one if you're into that kind of thing...
