I encountered an interesting forge glitch while working on my most recent map. I have two man cannon lifts on each end of the map and I was going to use a huge wedge on top to make it look a little cleaner, like this: I have been using the ghost merge canvas and the wedges that I used are OLN objects. I placed both of them where I wanted and continued working on the map. Then I noticed that the wedges had just disappeared. In a custom game, the wedge is not there but if you try to jump on top of the columns you will slide off as if the wedge is still there. So I went back into forge and went to where the wedge should be, and the reticule shows that there is an object in what appears to be empty space. I pressed X twice and sure enough it was a huge wedge. I then pressed A and the huge wedge appeared where it should have been. Has anyone else experienced this before? I think it is just a random glitch, but it could be very useful if there was a way to purposely do this. I have a video of this but I have to renew my Bungie Pro subscription before I can upload it. Sidenote: does Bungie Pro carry over to Reach?
Sometimes when you put an object in the ground or wall they don't render themselves because the game thinks that its on the other side of the wall. As of yet, there isn't a consistent way of doing this, unless this is different...somehow...
i know how to reproduce this effect in forge, but it rarely carries over into custom games. On the map that ell3ment and I made, Ridgeside, we were able to make objects disappear in customs as well. We think it was because we used a budget glitch and had many items merged in the ground already, but we're not sure. It was fun to make a staircase with visible objects and then make an invisible ramp inside of them so you could walk up it. I know ell3ment has a few maps with invisible objects, but he uses them for easter eggs and stuff lol.
Thanks for the replies guys. I kinda figured it was happening because of something like what Meta described. Well I guess theres always hope for new forging tricks in reach.
