Forging 101: Floating Platforms [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=ufswuEv15kc"]YouTube- ForgeHub Video Tutorial #3: Floating Platforms[/ame] While many objects can float when you place them on a box and remove the box from underneath, not all objects stay in their air and fall when they are hit or bumped. Well there is a solution. If you want to make floating platforms or another object stay in the air and not fall there is a solution! The first step is to use the floating method previously described in "Floating Objects." You need to have a player float a box or container to the desired height of the object you wish to float. Next place a receiver node (or other type of teleporter node if you run out of recievers or need them) or several weapon holders on the box. Now delete the box once the objects are stable. At this point the node or weapon holders should be levitating. You may not place the object you wish to have act as your floating platform or remain suspended in the air on top of the node or weapon holders. You now have a floating platform! Note for some objects such as pallets they will shift and fall when players stand on them. To solve this problem place weapon holders on top of the pallets in order to stabilize them so they can act as platforms and not fall. Stay tuned for future editions of Forge 101!
I don't want to be a butt, but the grammatical errors in this otherwise really, really good post makes it sometimes confusing.
You Can Float Objects By Yourself. Just Pile Crates or Radio Antennas Or Whatever Your Style Is Then Place A Teleporter And Delete Everything Below It And Then Place Anything Else Ontop Of The Teleporter. Both Methods Work Well, The Two Player One Is Easier Though B/C You Can Get Higher. Easier. But Remember Not Everyone Has As Many Friends As YOu
You could always do it alone and get higher. Copied from one of my previous posts. If you're by yourself, you can hold a teleporter node where you want it to be, save while still holding it and then end game. Enter the game wnad it will be floating. This is reccomended for stuff high above the ground or above uneven ground that you can't stack on top of. It may sound like it will take a while but in the long run its usually faster if you're doing stuff higher than "two containers". It's also more accurate, imo.
Makes sense ill try it. but stacking radio antennas always works fast. but if you stack more than 4 crates they start to become unstable
I have developed a similar method with my brother, usually we play together because we're only 2 years apart and only have one 360, but he usually holds a crate and then i drop the teleporter in the center of it and this allows the teleporter to have something to rest on thats not going to move. Then after a few seconds the teleporter will lock its location, leaving us with a perfect place for a crate or other object. This is especially useful over places with no floor like Narrows. The only problem is that it takes two people.
well what do you do if you want a floating platform to go into a certain position? like i tried to make a floating platform using this method on construct hanging in midair in the middle of nowhere... but after i made my first platform i couldnt position the teleporter at the same height and stuff.... so my platform ended up lousy and i ended up snapping my phone in half in frustration :squirrel_jaffa:
Do the pallets on instant respawn really work? Because I played one map where there was so much debris, the pallet didn't respawn even on instant respawn. Maybe it was because the pallet was on the ground? I like the video a lot.
ok so i was wondering what if u wanted a wall on foundry in a weird position or something how would the save and quit thing work there?
floating bases/platforms, is awesome on Valhalla, and have snipers on top of them, and have a CTF game, just throwing some ideas out there
Wouldn't a sniper on an elevated platform on Vanilla Hill (Valhalla lol) be too overpowered? I like the fact that snipers don't dominate the map, unless its a shotty snipers match, of course... --dc
Oh ty, i made floating pallet platforms a lot and they always fell of the teleporters. and all i needed was a weapon holder. wooo my first post.
