Well it only took almost a year, which included 6 months over the original shipping date, waiting for my Skreens Pro unit, but I can finally get my 4 player Halo 5 action on. Don't mind the crappy cell phone shot, it's all I had. The image quality on this unit is great. This will make remaking maps 10 times easier. The Skreen unit can resize and stretch any of it's 4 screens as well as stream the whole thing to Youtube, Twitch ect. The scaling is hardware driven and it's surprising how legible resized text is. If I decide to figure out how to stream maybe I'll upload a 30 second clip showing how nice this actually looks. The unit outputs 1080p 60fps and for all intense and purpose has zero lag. Even with all 4 screens inputing 1080p 60fps. Can't wait to get the guys over to play.
4 capture cards, for all those HDMI ports In all seriousness, that's pretty tough to stream. I don't suppose there's an output port?
There are actually 0 capture cards. It's far more advanced than that, and yet using an old technology that used to be extremely expensive. This is hardware driven. It's designed to stream. The original purpose was to create a highly configurable high end split screen device, then with the heavy interest from the streaming community they built in HD streaming. I was surprised to find PlayStation Nation had bought in as well. Here it is in action via a twitch stream. You will need to switch the quality to source and wait a while to check the quality. https://www.twitch.tv/mic_feedback/v/88478702 Output is in HDMI for you, streaming is done directly on device. This unit is a fraction of the cost of professional units and yet of a higher quality with more flexibility than was typically seen on entry level professional units. The guy that designed this originally created custom hardware for News and TV stations. I showed this a year ago but here's them playing Halo 5 split screen.
True, but I own 2 and my buddies own one each, so we just gotta treat it like the old Lan party days. Better than nothin, and I can now incorporate playing online mp PC games (Got 3 rigs), and or have a split screen gaming party consisting of my Intellivision, any Nintendo, any Playstation, and any Xbox. Just need to pick up some HDMI adapters for the old stuff. HA!!!, I just realized I could have a 16 player Halo 3 tournament on 1 screen. Now if only I could get more than 4 people over to play My Dad is now wishing he had picked one up when I mentioned it, because it would have been good for when he has his buddies over for watching sports on game nights. I have been waiting for this thing for over a decade and been looking more seriously for one for a number of years. I'm so happy to finally make the dream a reality. It's taken many years but I think I've finally completed my gaming wish list. The first goal was to have all the consoles I cared about, then a big ass screen to play them on, then to have enough gaming capable PC's to have a lan party, and finally to have the ability not to have my local gameplay experience hindered by game developers choosing to leave out split screen in their mp games. Ahhh stress fading . . . Another benefit I just thought of is that the Skreens device also allows me to not take the graphical hit that most games are forced to do when implementing split screen. Nice.
Dragged all the Xbones over to my buddies place for an old fashioned 4 player split screen Halo 5 experience. This was waaaay more fun than playing alone in my living room. Everyone was far more forgiving of the story with us all excitedly playing couch co-op. I wish we had more time to play multiplayer but I really enjoyed finally getting a chance to play on my Baltis Causeway map, as well as having good fun on @MultiLockOn 's Oblivion Map and a modified version of @Given To Fly 's Seclusion. Thanks a lot for making those maps guys. We also played a couple stock maps that were a little less than exciting. It was pretty rough accommodations but we managed to get by with only 80 inches of screen each. If it looks this good at 160+ inches, then I would say it passes the test. Everyone agreed, it was definitely worth the $450 investment. These images still don't do it justice but it gives you a slightly better idea than what I showed in my first photo. What was super handy was when I realized I had accidentally screwed up which corner each xbox was supposed to be displayed in, I quickly rearranged them with little more than a flick of my finger.
It was super awesome. I have a Skreens 4pro unit from this kickstarter. We had it hooked up to an older 1080p Mitsubishi hc4000 projector, projected on to a wall screen my buddy built. I've been using projectors as a tv for about 12 years now. Started out with a cheap but awesome little optoma hd70 projector. After my buddies saw that, everyone bought one My current 1080p 3d setup is another affordable but great unit from Optoma, the HD25e. Until they start making 90"+ tv's for under $2000 I'll be sticking to the projectors. Can't wait till the 4k laser projectors come down into the $1000-$2000 range.
I know right. I already had to start bringing in friends kids to get a proper group together. Soon I'll be trolling highschools. "Wanna come over to my house? I have an awesome gaming setup. We can do it split screen. Oh, you've never done that before. I think you'll really like it."
Here's a breakdown of the Skreens unit by a streamer. Best to skip at least the first 5 minutes of this stream if the link adjusted timing doesn't work. https://m.twitch.tv/mic_feedback/v/95813560/?t=05m19s
