I own Photoshop CS4 extended and ive been encountering a severe issue recently. When i try and use filters, almost all of them are 'grayed out'. As in i cant click/use them. The layers are rasterized and not locked and yet i cant use the filters. Anyone know whats wrong here?

Most likely you are in the wrong color mode to use them. What you should check is the mode you're in. Go to Image>Mode>RBG Color. That should fix it. If that isn't it then I'm not completely sure.

    Layers

If the layer is rasterized and the object is selected I don't see why it wouldn't work. Are you not able to add filters to any layers or are you just having the issue with a certain type of layer you've created?

No its with any layer. Even if i make a new document and just scribble on a layer.
Ill try your suggestion Juggz. Thanks. It might be that i'm using 16 bit RGB color instead of the default 8 bit.

    :EDIT:

Yeah that was it. Thanks juggz. As a suggestion to everyone else, never change the default color mode.
