Oh I agree it would breed a much different game, I just don't enjoy cooldowns in moment to moment gameplay. Personal preference. If I can balance a mechanic by player skill or strength instead of a timer, I will.
Inversely, I think it could potentially be cool to play a game where all abilities had fairly lengthy cooldowns, and the statuses of those cooldowns were clearly visible to other players. I think combat would be a little bit more of a logic problem.
@MultiLockOn this sort of makes the argument towards pickup item abilities, more compelling, do you concur? That way, anyone could have grabbed it, they get a "cooldown" of, well just the fact that you'd have to go find it again (I know that is not a real cooldown, but you get my point) and it simply cannot be abused. If it is OP you just make it available less often if it is dominating the entire match rather than simply complimenting the gameplay in some fashion.
doesn't even have to be pick up based. it employ a system similar to CSGO or the draft and ban systems we have seen in other games as well. usage based systems are just better.
what's funny is they have a hard time with cooldowns being a thing which is a very clear and simple way to limit somethings use.
Here is a fun one imagine the tf2 scout with mccree's pistol. It is actually probably doable considering the spy has basically the same gun as mccree. Also, both full Korean rosters lost last night in OWL. PRAISE THE SUN!!!
I think the building in FNBR works unexpectedly well combined with open world pvp, even though we all know it was a happy coincidence
Isn't this essentially the same as weapon pickups in Halo? I think picking stuff up in games is fun because it can promote movement; although starting with everything, like in COD, can be just as fun imo.
It is pretty much the style of game you are going for. I like the economy system in attack and defense games but anything that is about dueling, map pick ups for sure.
Why do you assume it's a coincidence lol the entire game is built around it. Epic is an excellent dev with a great track record. I mean Hell they made Unreal Tournament and Gears of War.
Because they built the building mechanics (along with everything else) from the ground up for co-op PvE, the BR mode was an addition to an already established grinding game. Of which they simply carried over all the settings from the base game into the BR mode, in theory this could Every decision they have made up to this point leads us to believe that there target audience was intended for the casual grind player
