Last month I post my first real competive map wolf park. Its a small 2v2 map and I think it really good yet i am sad to say others don't. using basic math and a calculator i came up with these sad figures. 899 view it and only 26 replied to the thread thats 2.892% of people and then again only 17 people have downloaded it thats only 1.890%. So i was want to know where i went wrong selling my map to you guyz? And what should i change to make it more appealing.
Unfortunately mate, no one but me and A_Burnt_Match and maybe a few others know you. It's the unfortunate way this site works, and I doubt things will change. You just have to take it and stop making maps for these people cause they obviously don't care. My suggestion, make maps for you and your friends, post them if you feel like but don't put any stock of the opinions of those who live here.
yea its said two download where from me and two replied 2, one from you 3, burnt 4, Convulse 5, taseme 6 and thats all i can think of.
As a "unsc trainee" heres a tip: Don't take everything he says fer cereal. But about the map, dont fret, it takes a bit to get noticed. Like 5 amazing maps.
dude....try getting in forging sessions with some of the better people....also, you have 20 posts, yet you joined in april...look at me...june, 2008, 1200 something posts, and people STILL don't know who the **** I am....all I reccomend, is to make an outstanding map, PM it to the tester's guild, PM it to some staff, and ask them POLITELY if they could help you get noticed.....I'm sure they wouldn't mind helping you out, as long as you are nice to them! Good Luck, and I wish the best!
I remember the days when having a thousand posts actually meant something. Regardless, 29 posts is still a decent number, and your map got very good ratings. In fact, I liked it a lot. You will find that there are many lurkers on this site who don't actually post. These could be bots, guests, or just users who don't want to post.
Indeed, also being well known does play a big factor. Try befriending some of the more well known members. If you've made a truely great map, it will get attention.
Basically what he said. Get to know people. Work hard to improve things. Release several great maps, and eventually, the work will do itself.
Exactly, I'd say you are a perfect example of that If you do somthing really impressive; then you'll get noticed. thesilencebroken was originally not all that well known and many, even myself, misjudged and overlooked him but look at him now. He's a premium member with two featured maps, with a lot of respect among the community and additionally is one of my favourite people. If you put thought into your posts and be mature and fun at the same time throughout the rest of the forum then that helps too.
Echo, One thing that separates the great people from the OK people is perseverance and striving to become better. Some people its comes natural while some people have to earn it. Hence, the reason why some people post one map and become popular. While others it takes quite some time to get noticed. Four things, my advice to you is to keep on forging, let me give you an in-depth review of your map, have confidence, and get to know people. The ball is in your court now. GL
If you make it look pretty, make a few punishing aesthetic pieces, you will win. Creating mass hype before releasing it will only help you. This includes testing and playing it with 'upper' members for a while before release.
Okay, well I looked through your post and your biggest mistake was your picture choice. People will look at the first few screenshots and if it doesn't appeal to them they leave the thread. You should have used your last two shots as your first two. They were the most appealing to me because I saw a greater portion of the map there. Had you switched them around, you'd have gotten more hits. At the same time a lot of your pictures showed the layout of the map, but those shots didn't compliment the map...they made it look a bit akward to be honest. Try finding better angles to take screenshots from that show both the layout and the beauty of the map. Your map does look good, I just don't think you showed it off properly.
Upon looking at your map, which looks fine, I would have to give you these suggestions. 1) Try to get better known around here, that is how maps get noticed. 2) Post more: don't spam, but this is an easy way to make friends. 3) Make a video, you don't have to though. 4) Have a wow factor in your map. It looks good, but nothing really stands out. 5) Post it in a map rating thread, then you can find what you did wrong and right. 6) B mai frind!
