Excluding your own maps, what were your favorite maps from the Grifball competition? I am curious as to what others think. I'll start, in no order these are a few of my favorites. Insularity- A bowl court is very hard to pull off, I love the atmosphere of this court and admire the original concept, seriously the bowl had to be a pain in the ass. Howling pass- It made it to top 16 but I have to say it was a very nicely made map, I think the addition of the watchtower made it much better as others have something to look at from the other side. I admire the small details. Toxicity- Even though it got eliminated it was a really cool looking court, it looked straight out of a Mortal Kombat level.
There was one that I think was called "Galvanic"? Pretty sure it's in MM, honestly should have made top 3. 1st place is deserving though, Kanaloa's Wrath looks amazing.
Galvanic is awesome but did not compete in this contest. And Kanalao's Wrath hasn't won yet but certainly has my vote. What a great floor. If I have to choose one map I would choose Howling Pass. I love the theme, the forging, the chains and the atmosphere with the freezing wind and cold weather, just a wonderful environment.
My favorite map (which surprised me when it wasn't in the top 3, let alone the top 16) was Ryouji's "The Great Journey". That is easily my favorite out of all of them. I'd have to look through them all again to pick out a couple, though. I honestly didn't think any other map could beat it.
Lol I only made 4. After Mbaraki, I was just building them with themes just to see if I could make the theme into a Grifball court.
Kanaloa's Wrath is artistically amazing, the textures are natural earth tones. Sort of simplistic though, wish he made the steps go up further, but nice design overall. My favorite to "look at", probably plays well enough (Grifball is, well, Grifball).
Despite not having the standard walls and ledges Grifball Pro requieres, my picks are: 'Howling Pass' with its amazing and well done environment design, very convincing. I was freezing every time I played in that map. Brrrr. 'The Great Journey', so nostalgic and perfectly executed. I swear I WAS on Halo 2. Loved the last version with the Mantle symbol graphed in the court. 'Rapture's Ballroom' really took advantage of the sea floor canvas and made a convincing and detailed structure from Bioshock universe. That chess-alike floor really do the job to contrast floor with surroundings.
