I have noticed this for a very long time, and it annoys me just enough to start a thread here. The theme of way too many forge maps is "abandoned." Renegade is an abandoned gas house; Reflex is an abandoned water chamber; Terminal is an abandoned hangar; End of the Line is an abandoned coal mine; Aqueduct is an abandoned Roman structure. This list can go on and on, but is limited by the amount of determination I have to find these "abandoned" maps. Considering that Forgehub is based around creativity and "thinking outside of the box," by all means, make your map's theme something other than "abandoned." On a side note, many of the original Bungie maps are like this as well. Gaurdian is an abandoned forerunner structure; High Ground is an abandoned war ground; Foundry is an abandoned warehouse, etc, etc, etc... EDIT: It's kind of funny how some of you are so offensive. Chill out. Sure the map can have nobody on it, all I am saying is avoid the word "abandoned" in your description.
What, are we supposed to say, 'this shopping district is full of activity'? Quite obviously, there's no one else there. Therefore, it's abandoned. It's derelict. Empty.
totally true, i noticed this as well, but its hard to make a "thriving city" with no people or anything. maybe just calling it a hangar instead of an "abandoned hangar" is better
What the hell do you want forgers and bungie to do? Add lifeforms onto the map that you can interact with. The fact that it is abandoned makes it cool because no one is there to get in your way.
And your head is an abandoned shell of a brain, jk, oh and BTW, hows ur map coming along? Yeah but i agree with the others, how else can you describe a life less battleground?
Eh, it's possible to make a non-abandoned map. Bungie even made some themselves. For instance, The Pit is a UNSC training facility, as is Last Resort, and High Ground is specifically said to have been "reactivated". As for the Forerunner environments, well, they pretty much are abandoned by default considering that the Forerunner are extinct. Although Construct does have the occasional Sentinel fly by...
I do see where you're coming from there, but it is difficult to think of someting that has a decent story that isn't 'abandoned'. True, they are very common, but it's not like the maps are the same, just the overall theme.
the thing is a battle ground is going to be abondound... untill spartans and elites stomp all over it. but the thing is the maps have always gaven me an abandond feel, not by the subscription or the items but the sounds, if you just take a moment to listen to the sounds of maps they can tell you a lot about it (no i am not a musician)
In theory you could PMI some marines into your map and have them walk in different paths and run away when shot. Of course this is all way beyond the current capabilities of any modder as of right now.
Alot of maps are abandoned. One map though, halo 2's Elongation, was active, it had the moving boxes in the middle. So it didn't quite seems abandoned, more of momentarily abandoned, but i see your point.
Wow.. I just noticed that.. I'm so oblivious to this. At least the map I released wasn't an abondoned place.
doesnt have to be abandonded it could just be a water chamber, or a place where people dont need to go. In all seriousness people do need to think but i think its disturbing that you let this get on your nerves you should seek help lol
No, abandoned isn't the most common, more maps are like "Spartan UNSC training facilities" and stuff along those lines
Let's stick in the limits of normal Forging, instead of hypothesizing on modding clones or whatnot in.
