Welcome to EGGGNOG'S EGGGSTRAORDINARY EGGGSTRAVAGANZA What is it? Every month I will be releasing a blockout and it's the job of all of you to spice it up and make it interesting. What is a blockout? A blockout is a group of objects, usually primitives, that designate pathing and gameplay dynamics. They are very simple and not at all pleasing to the eye, but are merely to see how a map will play. How do I participate? You can bookmark the monthly blockout found below and change it to suit your style. Then submit it in this thread. Submissions are due on the last day of every month at midnight, PST. Proper submission form looks like this: Title Link (Waypoint or Forgehub) Description Images (optional, but preferred) What can I change? You can change whatever you want, but you'll lose points for how far you drift from the original blockout. The point of this competition is to provide the community with a cool layout, Is there a reward? Unfortunately I cannot offer much, but there will be some pretty awesome prizes coming from community donations. For example, there will be a Warzone Premium REQ bundle and a code for Forza Horizon given away. I will also be making be making YouTube showcases on the winners map. How will the winner be decided? I will put together lobbies with those who are available to play each map and they will fill out forms based on a rubric with 5 categories. Each category is worth ten points and are as follows. Theme Consistency Detail Lighting Originality Good Luck and Happy Forging! Spoiler: November BLOCKOUT 1 Blockout: Hot off the anvil and created by @Qrrbrbirbel, @a Chunk and yours truly is Novembers blockout. It's an assymetrical 3v3 slayer map, and can be found here. Prizes: Courtesy of Yumudas Beegbut, our first prize is a warzone premium req bundle. There is also a complimentary video showcase done on the winners map. Last Month: Our previous winner from the beta version of this competition was @Ascend Hyperion's chronology. Cudos to @Pat Sounds and @Agent Zero85 for also participating. Get out there and forge! Remember, submissions are due by midnight PST on November 30th.
Uh oh, it's getting real in here. Especially the part where I had to look up what "rubric" means. It's like a grading chart that explains how many points you get for accomplishing different levels of each part that's being graded, but there's no gold star stickers so I lost interest.
The community doesn't have to wait around for sponsors to run contests. You want some gametypes, map themes, or [pick a topic] to get some attention, pool together to chip in a little and collect donations for a contest to put the spotlight on the efforts that deserve them. Make the rules, find a good host and a panel of judges the community will get behind. Then ramp up the enthusiasm and the number of entries and beat them all to take the top prize. If anyone's actually feeling this, start a new thread and see what people will get behind. I'd say Community Actionsack 2: The Communitying. I'd say a lot of things. And then not even be sure what the hell I said.
So for those of us who submitted to the original blockout contest, will our entries just be rolled into the first iteration of this contest? Or will there be a new blockout to work on when this one is in motion?
