Created by: RunTime83 and makisupa007 DunScape was a collaborative creation on the middle or main tier of Sandbox. Both Runtime83 and myself had an interest in teaming up for a joint forge, but we both admitted that we don't work very well with someone else in the party. We came up with the idea for a "Hand Off" map that we would take turns working on. I would build for a day or two and then post the link to my file share where he could download and begin working on a new section of the map for a couple of days. The map started around the central column, which was the first thing I finished, and it spread out from there. We handed the map back and forth around 8 times before it was complete. I enjoyed making a coauthored map because if there was a skill I was lacking in my partner could take over and visa versa. Dunescape is a symmetric map designed mainly around vehicle combat. The map itself is very friendly to maneuver through while in a vehicle and there are several nice jumps that can be taken to ambush the enemy's base while airborne! The central column is surrounded by a large enclosed infantry tunnel that is used for moving across to the other base on foot. The Missile Pod and the Overshield both spawn in the central area underneath the enclosure. This is a good spot to rush at the beginning of a match in order to control the opposite team's vehicle use. The outside of the enclosure has two large ramps on either side that can be used to propel yourself towards the enemy base. Each base has a tunnel entrance in the center where the Rockets spawn. The team's color marker can be seen like an eye shining through the tunnel. Each team starts with a Warthog, a Chopper, and two Mongooses. The bases include two side rooms and an elevated platform with a large shielded diamond window. Note: The side rooms both have bomb plant points in them making a game of Assault slightly reminiscent of Ivory Tower. The Vehicles are set to respawn every 60 seconds, so there is usually something available to ride in. Dunescape supports all gametypes. feature...........i would stop there but that would be spam =P. But this is truly amazing the center structure is unique and gives the map a medieval feeling. The ascetics are also amazing, the bases and side structures are awesome I also like the geomerged back structure and the the shield door 11/10 dl (not to sound stupid but how do you geomerge on sandbox cleanly?)
I am seriously debating whether of not this should be under the Aesthetic Maps section and not Competitive, but I shall see how a the gameplay is and get back to you. If I had to rate this purely on its visual appeal, it would be off the charts. I'm afraid I can't do that though, as this was posted in Competitive Maps, so gameplay WILL matter if this map is to be featured.
You stop at nothing to make AMAZING maps. I like how the back of the bases is geomorged into the sand. How do you geomorge that neetly? 95/100 Or 100/100 if you may.
Wow. Amazing map. Not only Aestheticaly great, but the aesthetics look like they could be used for Gameplay. The only thing that could make it even better, is if you added Golf Tees inside the caslte, ot on the top. That would be sweet.
omg a ****ing beautiful map bro, this is simply amazing the aesthetics are great the game play looks like it will be epic, this should get featured i love this map. ten million/10 and a for sure fire dl from me man. Just wow keep forging and turning out maps like this man.
Don't act like you're the only person whose opinion get a map featured, its just not cool. Anyhow, fantastic job! Its not my kind of map, but it is pretty fun for a vehicular combat based map. The aesthetics however are amazing, however you did I hope you can do more maps that are this level of quality. Good job, keep it up.
hey i rember testing this just like a day ago, very bueatiful map, the only two problems we had were toat people were wanting to go to the perimiter of the map and snipe and we were kindof getting base raped at spawns by the warthog. besides that great map btw, nice geo-merging
Nice Job! That center structure amazing me and the forging seems 100% perfect! Map looks like it would be amazing in a game of Squad Battle TS or CTF. You put alot of time and effort into this and I am looking foward to what you throw at us next. Be on the lookout on the youtube channel called H3Forge. Your map might pop up in a video... 5/5 Feature worthy to me! ~Plasmaterial~
F.E.A.T.U.R.E From an aesthetics point of view anyways. I am definetly downloading this, no questions asked. Everything looks so perfct, from the geo-merging to the big tower in the middle. This is one of those maps, where once you see it, you'll never forget it. Those other big flower-like towers are interesting as well, excellent job man, 5/5. I really want to see how it plays, this is the kinda stuff I expect to say on matchmaking. Does it supports 16 people? Was the name by any chance inspired from runescape?
This is an amazing map. If you ever need a tester, I'll be there. You've never failed to satisfy with both an aesthetic and well-playing map. I still think Venom was your best, because here it looks like there was not enough attention to cover, but the aesthetics are still amazing and it will provide for some exciting gameplay. I think my favorite part is that "underground" corridor.
Thanks very much, everyone! I know Maki and myself greatly appreciate all the comments. The gameplay on this map is, in my opinion, phenomenal. There isn't a lot of conventional cover, such as closed bases and rooms, but there is plenty using the structures and the varying lines of sight. Don't take my word for it, download it and get a couple good games on this map. I know you won't be disappointed. I don't know how well it would do for 16 players, as we haven't tested that yet. 12 players works great though. I will be posting a video for your viewing pleasure sometime tomorrow, so be on the lookout.
looks great, took inspiration from Coventry right but thats cool that you made this with someone else HOWEVER Conventry gets really laggy, and that gameplay is sort of...1 sided/always the same, despite te aesthetics being amazing, im gonna play some games on this, but it looks pretty simplistic, gameplay-wise, so i think it should be fun but yea did you glitch this
Amazing Job Guys I remember when i saw this map in its infancy about 2 weeks ago with just the center structure finished then, but I knew then this map was going to be great. You guys managed to make a great map with both rock solid gameplay and beautiful eye-candy as well. This is just my kind of map. I love how the vehicles can access just about every part of the map, i love the center structure with the vehicle jump ramps and bottom room, all the weapon placement and spawns are solid and balanced as well, and the base designs are great. I cant wait to play some more games on this, still haven't tried a multiflag on here yet,I bet it will be my favorite gametype on here when I do.Keep up the good work! 94/100 which equals a 5 out of 5 on Forgehub.
Im sorry, are you trying to sell the map, or Chips' armor? Less Recon, more map please. From what i CAN see behind Chips' head, It looks pretty good. The center area made me keep scrolling, and the bases seem to be pretty well detailed. Im going to download and hopefully get a few games in so i can give you more thoughts based on things that matter. seacrest out.
nice structures, although they're not very functional your weapon placement and vehicle placement needs a little work and so do the spawns 2.5/5
Well this looks freakin sick. This map and the last map I looked at have all these sick structures and it makes me feel like I better get on the ball. I love your main center structure and that tower. This is very beautiful. I cant wait to load this up and check it out. The weapon layout seems good, Sandbox with Snipers, so it shouldnt be bad to play. There seems to be a large fixation and emphasis on gameplay according to your post which matters so Im gonna check it out for sure. Hopefully its good, according to the guy above me, its not. But your structures seem functional to me from the pics, we shall see.
This map is seriously pretty. A great advertisement for joint forging Hope to see another project in the future.
Wow. There are some really beautiful maps coming out these days. The aesthetics of this map are amazing. The tunnels and towers make a beautiful backdrop while you are pumping someone full of bullets. I got a small game going, and the gameplay did not disappoint. There is an adequate amount of cover, and the middle structure does a great job of limiting the lines of sight from base to base. The weapon/vehicle placement seemed good, although vehicles were rarely used. No weapon was terribly overpowering, and while it seemed like you could easily camp in your base with the rockets and sniper, it never happened. The only pint-sized problem I found was that the kite-shaped hole on the red side of the center structure is just big enough for you to drop down through (although you have to spin around and suck in your gut), but the hole on the blue side isn't big enough to allow this. I'm sure this would rarely, if ever, affect gameplay, and the size difference isn't noticeable, but I just thought I would let you know. I'm sure I will enjoy playing on this again and again. Great job on a wonderful map.
