Double Wall Floors on Sandbox

    I am currently building a map in the sky bubble. I'm pretty far in and I just realized I am having serious issues with my flooring. The issue is with double walls being turned on their side and used as a floor. After saving and quiting, when the game is reloaded, the floors will be incredibly bumpy and angled, even though it was perfect when I saved. After doing some research I found this on Bungie.


    I am trying to find out if anyone has had success using their alternating direction suggestion to fix this problem. I have been trying this for a while now and I can't get them to stay smooth using this method. If anyone has a technique that can salvage my map, please let me know. If I am just wasting my time and there is no way to make a smooth wall floor, let me know, too.

    Alternating direction is all you can really do if they're end to end. If side by side, face them the same direction so the tilt goes the same way consistently. Check where the dot is pointing, and keep the tilted up ends touching other up-tilted ends, and downs with downs.

    I've come across something recently that hasn't been fully tested, but may help you. In stacking one wall on top of another, the one not on the grid itself is noticeably flatter than its counterpart. Still not perfect, but definitely better.

    As squidhands suggested, I was going to say that what if instead of building a floor on the "floor" of the skybubble, you build it (for instance) a double block up.

    I figure that might work better, but I wouldn't know, not owning Sandbox.

    Yeah he did. I guess overall it just takes patience and repetitiveness.

    Lots and lots of patience. If it doesnt match up right, turn it the opposite way and save/quit again. I did it till each wall was tolerable.

    Indeed, the best advice for this specific method in basic terms is to try and overlap the walls as little as possible if interlocking them. If you overlap them too much then, where the higher ends meet, the height of the angle, the ends won't match up as much and you'll just get the end of each wall sticking out of the other one. Thought it's worth noting that not interlocking is appreciated as alot more valid than it was on Foundry. I haven't tried building them off the level of the floor, but I'd be inclined to trust the word of squidhands. But I have tried the method outlined in the Bungie update and, as long as you work hard at getting the walls in line and parallel, be careful to use the teardrops and place the walls the same way up (in terms of the flat sides being the same way up), and overlap as little as possible if you interlock then I think it works pretty well.

    The best thing I can suggest if you still have trouble is consider using different materials for flooring. Huge Blocks are half the height of a double box, pretty thin in the great scheme of things, and they're very flat and interlock friendly, as well as having pretty straight edges and no real bulges when compared with things like Double Blocks. Huge Blocks are definitely my preferred flooring material, and you get a decent amount of them to work with.
