If you weren't able to try Doom's multiplayer component during its closed beta last week, publisher Bethesda Softworks is allowing everyone in next weekend with an open beta on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, the company announced today.

The open beta will run from April 15-17, and will offer the same content as the closed beta: two modes (team deathmatch and Warpath) on two maps (Heatwave and Infernal).

Bethesda also announced that developer id Software will deliver a mix of free and paid additions to Doom's multiplayer component after the game launches. SnapMap, the mode that allows players to create multiplayer content like gametypes and share them with others, will receive free content updates such as map modules, objects, and upgrades for AI and editing tools. And id will also release new game modes for free.

However, Doom players will have to pay for new multiplayer content such as maps. Three multiplayer DLC packs are on the way with items such as new maps, hack modules, weapons and playable demons. The first such add-on will be released this summer; here's what it will contain:

    • Three new maps
    • One new weapon
    • One new playable demon
    • One new armor set
    • One new piece of equipment
    • New hack modules and taunts
    • New customization colors and patterns
Each of the three DLC packs will cost $14.99, and interested parties can get all three inDoom's season pass for $39.99. Doom is set for release May 13.
