I want weapon lowering on XBL, if not for the sake of Machinima directors, for those 6 on 6 games where five of my teammates quit. I always stand on a rock or something spinning around and looking at the sky, but it would be so much more epic to lower my weapon and just watch the horde come. Edit: I find it incredibly hard to believe that there is an entirely different set of code for Local and XBL. As you have pointed out, the logical place for the weapon lowering system is in the game's engine. But you can only do it offline. I've never done any modding, so I can't say for sure, but I would guess that there is some sort of data structure that defines the available controls depending on what kind of game you are in and on what network you are playing (I.E. you can turn into a monitor in Forge but not Matchmaking). So a change to the data structure that defines available controls for Forge/Customs Online would allow you to lower your weapon. Of course, even if this is true, and it IS possible, Bungie's apparent fear of another BXR will probably overrule the relatively small cry of the Machinimators.
As of right now, when I write this, there are over 3666 people in the b.net group that are not going to play on Sep. 25. I am the 3667th person.
they won't . to many people don't give a **** . i don't . but i would support it seeing as so many people want it to superguh007 i have done modding on halo one and control switches are usually defined by code built into the game although if you can do it on a local console it should be fairly easy to for bungie to switch network related commands and preferences because most operations such as lowering guns and disabling modified content can be easily unencrypted and disabled.
Before I wasn't going to support, but now I will because I am actually wanting to make my own videos, but since so of the people that I want in my video don't live near me I think there should be gun lowering. I will try to get so of the people on my friends list to join us.
So, in theory, if you brought the entire coding of Halo 3 onto your computer using, say, an Explorer360, you could sift through the files until you found the armor perms, and 'unlock' the Recon armor for use?
