Hey all! So, I just joined up because I'd like to share a few of my maps with you. I never made any real Halo 3 maps, so I want to get into the Reach forging community as much as possible. I've been lurking the forums for a while, specifically in the run-up to Reach because forge was one of the main areas I wanted to keep my eye on. So anyway, here's the first map that I made. It's called Discordance, and it's a symmetrical team-oriented map, but free-for-all slayer works just fine too. It's also compatible with CTF. This was essentially an experiment for me to work out things like spawning, weapon placement and spawn times, forging techniques etc. The map doesn't feature power weapons apart from a Sniper Rifle and a Focus Rifle. Both are situated some way away from the sniper towers, to discourage camping. There's also plenty of cover in the central platform. In playtesting, one thing I noticed was that players with jetpacks tended to fly up on top of the sniper towers, making it difficult for any non-jetpackers to kill them if they were below, so I stuck down some soft kill zones to prevent that. All in all I'm fairly pleased with it. Do keep in mind that it was my very first attempt at a competitive forge map. Criticism and advice welcomed. Also, do check out my other map, In the Balance.
