I know Stevo uses imageshack, so I've gathered this much so far: img___.imageshack.us/img___/7660/_______.jpg The first two blanks are missing the same 3-digit number, while the number of characters in the third are unknown to me. I know, it isn't much.....
Thats much better... and good use with the imageshack. The orange fragments are given to you already as part of the url. so what you have so far is: ___://img37.imageshack.us/img37/7660/________jpg Considering you know what the numbers in the code represent now for certain parts, can you figure out what the last and first part are? The first part should be pretty obvious
The first part is obviously http, but isn't required for the url to work. For the last part... I keep thinking "Word X, Letter Y" or "Line X, Word Y, Letter Z" But it isn't working out so far, as I don't know what you're counting as words. EDIT: So it's "Word X, Letter Y"
If you know http:// is the first part, you know there are four characters to find from the code reference: 3C526H17A:// Using the two I gave you which uses the code (red letters), it should help you figure out how to get http.
So far, broccollipie is the closest to translating it. Although, he worked it out using other sources and couldn't actually figure out the code, he's still almost revealed the URL. What he does know: //FRAGMENT CORRUPTION INITIATED CONSISTANT ENUMERATOR VALUE #8 PARTIAL TRANSLATIONVALUE) IGNORE PARTIAL TRANSLATION: Y/N Y This section means the context is divided into chunks of 8 characters. Everything that is coloured Orange and bracketed is excluded from the character division. Single line returns = 0 characters Double line returns = 2 characters.
Jk you're not egotistical at all stevo About the hallway thing, I just like a cleaner look which is mostly from my preference for btb where fancy stuff like that is impractical. There's also the issue that it's just a hallway but I can see how somethin that tiny could still be a big part of a really small map.
* Organite cheated to find the picture. Seriously though Stevo, you expect half the people on this site (or even a smaller fraction for that matter) to make a cooperative effort to decipher the code for a map that they have otherwise heard nothing about before? You have not revealed any "juicy" details to make people actually want to solve the puzzle. So far, you've revealed that this preview only contains the URL for a screenshot of the map, which does look pretty good on a simplistic level, when you should really be trying to figure out ways to tell people about the features of the map in a possibly cryptic fashion as well. People (like me at least) aren't enticed by fancy aesthetics, but more or less the question, "what does this map have that any other does not?" Yes the legitimate Forerunner look is something to be said, but as all of Forge World's palette revolves around Forerunner, it's not exactly a spectacle to see that. That being said, I definitely hope, for the sake of this map, that there is something about it worth putting all of this effort into. However, another part of me thinks you posted this knowing you'd get a lot of whines and criticisms just to keep the preview alive and people thinking "Didact" in their head. In the end, if that's the cheap marketing tactic you've resorted to then, -.-
I actually thought people would come to this site for reasons to do with entertainment. I used an entertaining way to see what I'm working on. I didn't expect half the people to view the thread to ***** and whine because one picture wasn't present.
I, personally, think the puzzle was a great idea. It mixes things up. Everything, regardless of popular belief, doesn't have to be the same EVERY GOD DAMN TIME. And to make me sound even better, [sup] I cheated too![/sup] Get at me. The map looks incredible. Can't wait until it's finished.
Obviously no one is entertained by this and now every one, myself included, is guilty of bumping this retarded thread. You apparently have deleted any posts that just give away the picture and expect people to try again, only this time by working together and solving this bullshit code, which clearly no one wants to do. The absolute most I was willing to do was look at your recent screenshots on Bnet, but it looks like you've taken those down, unless it's the one with the shield door bridge. It'll be just like "Think Twice" when they touted it as the best map to every come out on Reach (not that you've made this claim) and ran this whole publicity thing on Bnet, when really it was just an average map with pretty aesthetics (what I'm expecting this to be). People are lazy Stevo. They like things handed to them or they get angry. When this map actually does come out, expect a lot of negative responses simply because of this stunt.
A little info about the map itself probably accompanying this little puzzle would have been likely the way to go, but I still like the idea behind it. Its gotten word out and people are going to keep thinking about it until they get bored or solve it, but either way, he's done what he's set out to achieve. And thats get people looking at his thread. You're either an advertising genius or a diabolical villain, Stevo, because any publicity is good publicity, and you're getting both here.
Can everyone get off the stupid "Lets all hate on Steve for doing something a little ****ing different" bandwagon? Seriously, if you're all so ****ing pissed about it, don't do the god damn puzzle and don't see the god damn map. Don't sit here bitching for pages and making yourself seem like a completely ignorant **** in front of everyone. Seriously, grow the **** up. /rant
