Hello Forgehub! This is obviously my first post and I'm here seeking help. When I make teleporters, and have them setup where I want them, and the channels I need them set to, and when I go through them, they face me in the wrong direction. I have a map right now that you drive through, and when you go through it, you're facing to the left, when you're supposed to be looking straight at the oncoming track infront of you. What in the world do I need to do to make them work properly? I've rotated, nudged, done everything I could think of and I can't figure it out.. Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
I think it only does that if you're connection host. Otherwise you come out facing the same direction you went in (aiming that way, not physically facing that way, but it screws you up anyway).
From what I've seen, the teleporters are similar to the ones in Halo 3's forge, in that they have little markers at the base that show which direction the users will be facing if they enter head-on. You should see two little nubs on either side of a black line on one side of the teleporter at the base, and on the other side you should see only a black line. The grey portions of the base are the sides, and those two little extrusions are the front of the teleporter. You'll face whatever direction those are pointing.
DAMN THOSE TELEPORERS!!!!!! I'll explain it in 2d space, 3d will be too hard for you Pretend you have a clock, 0 to 12. Whatever time/angle you enter the teleporter, the opposite is applied to the recieving teleporter. If I went into the teleporter at 3 oclock, I would be home in time for tea /jk I would come out at 9 oclock. I hope this helps you understand how the new teleporters work.
Actually, I was slightly wrong. All these other excellent forgers are right. You can use the above info to set them, however. For instance, if you have the teleporter rotated to have people enter it on the side with the prongs, they'll exit the other teleporter on the side with the prongs. Using the prongs would probably be the easiest way to do it. Here's a pic (that I quickly, irreverently made in paint) that will hopefully explain it better:
You guys have all been very helpful, for that, I thank you. Especially the picture diagram, that's was quite simplistic, yet had much meaning. @B3NW, your explanation was also very helpful, as I read it first, and it immediately clicked in my simple mind what you meant. Thanks guys! I thought instead of posting another thread and spamming the board, I'd just ask this here incase anyone had any ideas what I was doing wrong: I have an Infection map, everything works, the spawns work well, everything is perfect. Only problem is: If you step a few feet away from your respawn/spawn point, you die. Any idea what the cause of this could be? Help is appreciated, thanks in advance!
