Defiance is a symmetrical map designed for competitive team games. It is medium sized and suitable for 4 - 12 players. Layout The map consists of a basement area, a ground level and a raised level. It is mostly indoors, with the two bases (red and blue) being outside. The central area has raised walkways around the side and a bridge across the middle. The raised area can be accessed by ramps from either base or the central area, or by a central gravity lift from the basement to the top of the middle bridge. There are rooms at either end of the bridge where the two shotguns are located, which can also be accessed from teleporters on the ground level. The two sniper rifles are located behind the glass cover above each of the bases entrances. There are multiple ways to access each level/room. Weapons . 2 x Sniper Rifle (150s Spawn) . 2 x Shotgun (120s Spawn) . 6 x DMR (60s Spawn) . 2 x Needle Rifle (60s Spawn) . 4 x Magnum (30s Spawn) . 8 x Frag Grenade (30s Spawn) . 8 x Plasma Grenade (30s Spawn) Images Overview of the central area of the map, showing the bridge in the centre. A view of the Red Base, showing the exits to the central area and ramps to the upper floor (sides) and basement (middle). Gravity lift in the centre of the basement area, ramp to Red Base can be seen on the right. Inside one of the shotgun spawns, showing the teleporter. Red teams Sniper Rifle spawn, behind the glass cover on the upper level. Gameplay . The map is compatible with all gametypes except Race and Invasion . Soft kill zones prevent jetpacking out of the map Summary This is my first map post on Forge Hub, i hope you like the map. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Nice job, especially for a first map!! Everything looks very nice. The use of lighting/glass is creative and adds to the experience. In fact, you included a lot of details that really enhance the map both aesthetically and functionally. I haven't been able to play it with friends yet... I just now saw it and downloaded. But I look forward to it... my walkthrough was nice.
I just downloaded the map, did a quick walkthrough, and must give props where props are due. Symmetrical maps are not exactly my favorite (especially the ones deriving from Sandbox), but this one was a nice change. It was well balanced, had a great variety of weaponry that was easily accessible, and did not have one place on the map that would be impossible to rush in a 2v2 slayer game. The few problems I had with it was the grav lift (did you really need 2 horizontal lifts at the top and not just one?), the amount of objectives, and the placements of those objectives. One spot had 1 objective on top of another. Maybe should be edited further? Overall great job. Evenly balanced. Open to almost all gametypes.
Thanks for your comments I can see what you mean, the reason i put the horizontal grav lifts is to slow the player down (else you fly out, hit the ceiling and get hurt). I put 2 there so that you aren't propelled in a horizontal direction once you reach the top. There are lots of objectives because of reachs many different game modes. All the objectives are set to "Gametype Specific", meaning they will only appear in their respective gametypes (Flag Spawns only appear in CTF games). It may appear that some are cluttered if you fly through in Forge because all objectives will appear at once, in customs it would make more sense Thanks for your advice though!
