Surely, Revenants have come to be known for their speed and ferocity in battle, but aren't those the same traits that we loved the Choppers for in Halo 3? Not to mention, the multitude of mass-destruction weapons on the map should balance out the inclusion of large vehicles, just like in Sandtrap. As for separate versions of the map, the idea is tantalizing, but I was going for a single, melded variant of both map concepts. If there is enough clamor for separate versions, then I'd be more than capable of doing it. Invasion will be included, but as for now I am not ready to relay the details.
I've already added you, along with everyone who displayed interest in playtesting. Double check your messages and friends list. If for some reason the request didn't go through, you can always send me one. I'm thinking about getting a party together like...late tonight. Look for me. If not, then I'll also be online tomorrow from 6-9 pm.
Alright, with my 360 throwing a tantrum and not wanting to read the Reach disc and all, my impressions from two games were pretty good. I don't exactly agree with the use of the juicy FX sphere and I'm not too fond of the steeper ramps such as the ones in the central building, but overall I liked it. As another note, it seemed the Red bombsite had the occasional framerate hiccup, so might look into that.
i believe it has been proven somewhere that having a lot of water on the map can cause significant drops in performance. it might not be that hard to just raise it up above the water?
During last night's playtest, there were a few things that urked me about the water, but I still like the look of it. I'll make a second version of Deathtrap with raised floors for the playtest tonight at 6, and we'll see how it plays.
Very nice. however, I would leave out the walls. they look out of place. also, the base (w/ the splazer) looks kind of small. On a related note, for both maps, how do you guys intend to replace the elephants? Or will it be a Sandtarp thing?
If only you could forge in those elephants. There are some weapons and vehicles I wouldn't mind seeing in HAL0 reach, strike that, I would love to see in HALO reach multiplayer.
OH ok ill lose the walls (but i put those there to prevent camping) & yeah now that you mention it that base " w/ the spartenlazer " dose look small i used a "4x4 flat" so ill try a "5x5 flat" now .THX
This is probably my favorite use of the beach so far. Sandtrap was probably one of my more favorite maps in Halo 3, and from what I can tell from the pictures, this one looks pretty awesome. Aside from previous concerns about vehicles potentially slowing down, I really like the use of the water. It gives it some pretty cool contrast. Looking forward to more updates, you have my download when it's released for sure. On an unrelated note, I'm not a fan of Greytrap at all. It has absolutely no contrast. I don't care for all-metal maps. Everything blends in with each other making it hard to comprehend anything.
You need not to wait much longer. Deathtrap is complete and will be submitted for testing. Depending on the feedback, it may be released very soon. I know that it's been awhile since I've mentioned the map. It's project season in school. Bear with me.
Would you be willing to do a video of it for the final post? I have saved files of the first testing games that I played with the community.
