What we don't know, we fear. What we fear, we destroy.

This saying can be used for many things, including this situation.

We feared death because it was unknown to us. Thus, death was destroyed by religion. Destroyed in the sense that you never actually die, simply move on to another life.

This is one of the main reasons I am an Atheist. Not because I have proof of God's (or any higher power) existence or non-existence, but rather the means by which religion was created. The reasoning for the creation of any religion is enough for me to deem it as false entirely.

As for death it self, it is merely not being anymore. When you die, you will not be able to care that you are dead, because you will not have any thought. It is scary to some to simply no longer be, but it is an unfortunate truth. However, it is simply just nature, and we have no choice but to conform to it.

Nice write-up. I can't say I really think about death all that often. It's not easy imagining you're conscience mind just up and vanishing. It feels easy taking comfort in the idea of an afterlife; the sort of safety net being apart of a religion holds you in.

When I think about it, all I see is complete black. Nothing more, nothing less. Just black.
