Hello good people of ForgeHub, this will actually be one of my first thread posts on ForgeHub. My name is Flashplayer911. If you do not know me, I am the creator of a couple Death Run maps posted here on ForgeHub- Death Run: Survivor Death Run: Toyland Death Run: Dimensions As you can tell by the name of this thread, I wanted to see if this would be possible, so I need the communities' help. You make the trap and I will set up the death run for the community by the community! The picture above would be the boundaries of a set prefab you would download below (The Red blocks would be the limited boundaries of the trap) Every trap would be suited and designed to your taste. I would want at least a little bit of variety in each trap, so that there is no same trap throughout the run. (ex. 2 disappearing platform traps with a kill volume at the bottom) Every trap would have to be set up by YOU. There can only be 2 power set scripts for each trap and/or 2 messages MAX (90 Object count per trap MAX). I want to make sure everyone would have a chance to make what they want so if you have more than that let me know. Depending on the number of power sets, less will better, and the more traps there will be in the run! I try to shoot for 14 traps as it tends to be the sweet spot. If you need help setting up the scripts for your trap, just let me know and I will see if it will be possible to make it into reality. (I don't really call myself a miracle worker with scripts, but I will see what I am able to do.) I get a lot of people telling me if they can help me build a Death Run map or if I ever need their help let them know. So the almighty question beckons, will you help me, help us make a community death run map for all to enjoy? (If enough people are interested, I will make the prefab downloadable) LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN! ---->PREFAB Download HERE<----
Can you at least put the prefab up there so if there aren't enough people you can still use our traps mixed in with our own? And how do we submit the prefab? Do we give it a certain tag or something?
I am currently just testing the water to see if I can even get enough people interested at the moment. But I kinda knew asking anybody on forge hub is sort of a big reach. Of course, anybody could just message me that they made their trap prefab. I can than look up what they named their prefab under their files and bookmark it (I will also credit them, goes without saying, when i put the map all together).
I like building con-trap-chuns... but I am not that familiar with this gametype. what characteristics/rules should a trap have/follow? For instance: does it need to kill every time, or attempt to kill if the player does not do the exact right thing? does it need to reset itself afterward? does it need to be mechanical in nature? Is this for vehilces exclusively? Since this is just building a "thing" rather than a whole map, I could probably get it done relatively quickly. I guess I should play some of your maps, huh ? lol
To answer your question's---- - there needs to at least be a chance for someone to live. Whether it is neglect from Death who controls the traps, or if the person is able to get past it. -the trap does need to activate, but only once, and afterwards reset itself. -the trap can work however you want it to work. I find it best to make it entertaining as someone else dies so it is fun to watch. So whatever that is to you, by all means, go for it. -i have actually never made a vehicle trap, sounds very interesting actually. the only problem is just making sure everyone would have a separate vehicle or something since i usually make these gametypes playable with a full lobby of 16 people. If you need a better idea of deathrun and traps, I usually try to follow the standards of Garry's Mod. I find making more simple traps make it more enjoyable as well but here is a video for reference. There is also only ONE life on halo deathrun.
It's just that I reckon that if you put the prefab up then more people would be interested and the whole process could get started faster. I myself will make one at least but I'm worried I will get the size of each of the corridors (mostly the ones with infected in) wrong and my trap will not be compatible. I'm sure other people will have similar concerns.
In case this was unclear, the prefab I refer to is the one mentioned in the first post, the one with the picture of the walls and stuff.
Me again. I was trying to make a trap that involved vehicles (several mongeese to be exact) And I was testing it using the death run mode when I realised that placed vehicles are turned off. If this isn't intentonal can you change it please. Also, is there a script limit for the traps? I currently have 35 and I'm wondering if this is too many.
Oh! really? I guess that's why I never made any vehicle traps haha, I'll be sure to change that. Just as long as it is under 2 or 3 different massages and power sets, it should be fine with 35 scripts. Thank you for showing so much interest and asking needed unanswered questions.
