Death Rally 1.0: Experimental King of the Hill Race.

Grab the wheel of a Warthog, ride along, or find a good vantage point to take down enemy racers. Be sure to utilize vehicle enabled portals to skip ahead.

I realize I don't have any pictures to post. I'm not quite sure how to do that. If anyone can help on that front, I would appreciate it.

To elaborate more on the map...

It's a full race track, utilizing the static terrain of the Ravine map. It's not one of those impossible tracks that's meant to send you hurling to your death. Although filled with obstacles, the track is easy to navigate.

It is set up in the King of the Hill format, with up to 49 hills possible. With the "Kill of the Hill (Race)" game type, a score of 25 is necessary to win. That's about 4 laps.

Players must remain in each "checkpoint" or Hill for 1 second, but they are made large enough that players can continue driving through them without slowing down. The settings do not permit instantaneous capture. If an enemy Spartan is also in the Hill zone, it will remain contested till one of the players leaves the zone or is killed.

Warthogs are positioned at the beginning of the race, with all players starting out next to each other in a kill-free trait zone. Each team has 2 Warthogs available, but enemy Warthogs may be stolen or destroyed. 4 other Warthogs are placed throughout the map, along with Mongoose quads, to ensure a vehicle is just about always near by.

In the starting position, two portals are located behind the trait zone, leading to two different vantage points fully loaded with gun turrets, sniper rifles, rocket launchers and other goodies to stop enemy Spartan from scoring.

On the track, various obstacles, explosives, ramps and man cannons are positioned to add challenge. Vehicle enabled teleport zones are also available to allow players to skip ahead and keep the race competitive. They are signified by Vehicle pads, and are located to the left of the checkpoint Hill zones.

I have looked at a lot of community forge "race" attempts and incorporated the best traits for a fully functional and playable King of the Hill race. Please give this one a try, and feel free to comment or make suggestions. Collaboration also possible. If you know of any other King of the Hill races out there, let me know about them.

2 other maps are also available for download, but are still in the beta stage.

"Forgotten" suitable for many game types [including Oddball], is a two-level battlefield that utilizes the static terrain of Ravine.

"Sewer 1.0" is a waste treatment plant, located inside the Griftball court building of Erosion and is intended for Regicide. It is in it's earliest stages, and Sewer 1.1 has not yet been developed, but will include Oddball capture plates when released.

These maps will be officially announced later. Beta testers welcome.

    Leave Feedback.
