Hey everyone, I quite new to forgehub, about 5 min new infact. Im a somewhat experienced forger and after about 14 hours I have just nearly finished my new CTF sandbox skybox map. Unfortunately, Im not eactly sure how I should go about organizing the spawn points and spawn areas for a CTF game.

I know that Ill need 8 starting points for the assaulting team and defending team at each of the main bases. But Im not sure how I should organize the neutral spawn points in terms of how I should spread them out around the center of the map.

Also, I have now come across the "spawn area" items which I was told could be used to move up spawn points if lets say the flag was taken. Unfortunately I dont really know how to use them or even if they are that necessary to successful spawn placement.

Any other advice would be great.

    Thanks for the help,

    -Vig

I think the best way to learn spawns is to look at Bungie's and ForgeHub's set ups. Bungie spawns have a certain way they are done, particularly spawn point wise, while ForgeHub often has a different style of respawn area. As Bungie obviously knows the actual algorithms and such to the spawning setup, I'd look at theirs more carefully. In general, flag away/home respawn areas are a bad idea unless you know how to balance it all right, so I would stray away from that if I were you. For example, I believe one of the only respawn area flag aways on Bungie maps is on Last Resort. You rarely see it.

You may not need neutral spawns in the middle, it depends on the map. Think at each respawn point if you want both teams to use it, and what the player will be thinking when he spawns at that point. If you would see a player confused when he's spawned (IE. facing the wrong direction without any visual cues, etc), don't use that spawn.

I would follow Standoff's setup. Have spawn points in each team's respective bases, and few neutral spawns in the middle, in fact, I don't know if Standoff has any neutral spawn points. It would help if you can describe your map.

My map consists of two floating bases connected to a smaller center outpost by a thin bridge. Then there are two more bridges connecting the back of the bases that reach around and link back up with the center area.

Ive found from looking at Bungie maps that Ill only need one actual starting point with just regular spawn points around it in the base. Then Im going to put a few spawn points along the route to the center which will be mostly empty of spawns. I dont think Ill be using any neutral spawn points since the map is spread over a fairly large area, I dont want any players to suddenly find themselves on the wrong side of the center dividing wall.
