    Description:

    For those of you who don't know, CS_Assault v3 is a remake of a Counter-Strike hostage rescue map. This map has almost de_dust2 fame if you play a lot of CS 1.6! I posted CS_Assault v2 a year and a half ago on Forgehub. I kick myself for doing so as it was an embarassment to the glorious map. Recently in the past month I fired up my Halo 3 disc again and revisited an old friend. I quickly went to work interlocking needed things that were missing from v2 and generally beating the crap out of it.

    Recently I submitted this map to the Tester's Guild. I am happily awaiting the date in which it will be tested as this map needs professional surgery. I am away from my Xbox 360 for this week however and I expect the test to happen at the end of the month anyways.


    Changes from Version 2:

    More creative liberties destroyed; the "Sniper Perch" bulls*** I did in v2 to "Halo-ize" the map was an afterthought and a lazy approach to complete the map. There is actually a Hostage Room now, with the secret vent actually dropping into it like the original map from CS 1.6.

    Spawn rooms for asymmetrical gametypes added; you will ONLY spawn in these "starting points" when the game starts on such gametypes (1Flag, 1Bomb, VIP).

    There is a slant to the ceiling just like the original map now. I apologize for the corners looking ugly; this ain't Sandbox and we ain't got no Wall Corners!

    The inside warehouse has been re-imagined. There is a mancannon imitating the U-turn hallway leading up to the vent from the original map.

    All vehicles have been eliminated.

    A gametype has been added to it, it's called Intel Retrieval. I may tweak the final gametype as I haven't even tried it with 8 vs 8 yet...that's why I submitted it to the Testing Guild. Basically, think Counter-Strike! Both teams have 1 life and the team with the VIP must infiltrate the warehouse, steal the intel, and escape. When all members of a team die or the VIP dies, round over. Health does not regenerate, BR 3 shot kill, VIP pistol is 1 headshot/2 bodyshot kill.

    Even though v2 is inferior, it made for a great game of low gravity Rockets! I'm serious, pretty fun.

    So as you can tell, I have made STRIDES from v2. It is not done, this is only a preview of what is to come after it gets tested.

    Please note: This map, when fully tested, will be submitted to Competitive Maps after further tweakage. This needs a professional playtest before it will done so however. I learned my mistakes from v2 and hopefully will fix them in this version.
