Zatherla & SkybladePhoenix Foreign Treasures II Submission Remember when Call Of Duty was a good game? Yeah, That's right. We're going all the way back to Call Of Duty 4. With one of the least thought out maps in the history of gaming, Shipment. Now I know you're probably reading this and wondering why SkyBladePhoenix even bothered to make this map when it won second place in Halo 3's Foreign Treasures. Well, the answer is simple, my friends. It resides in the word 'second'. Plus the fact that we're all about halo reach now. Anyway, SkyBladePhoenix and I started this map just a couple a weeks ago, giving the competition a month of a head-start. We knew there was no way we could build, test, and post a map that's good, and still make the deadline. So we started came up with a small, simple, and great 1v1 map to remake, Shipment. Now before I make you guys go full speed though a wall of text, I must point out that this map is NOT made for 4v4; the grenade spamming alone is too much for the framerate. So to all you ForgeHubbers that think "This map would be an amazing 4v4 map!" I advise you to stop that thought right there, and not to proceed with it. So as I promised all of you, here are the pictures. Enjoy! COMPARISON PICTURES Spoiler OTHER PICTURES Spoiler ACTION PICTURES Spoiler
oh i remeber this map from sunday... it was fun to play on thats for sure but there was some FRL but idk if you fixed that.
It is all gone, but it does return when people start spamming grenades all over the place. There's nothing we can do about it. NINJA EDIT! Because zath is a fool, he hasn't updated the map download link, here's the latest one: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=26328951&player=Zatherla
Nice work on this both, Got to love the cars, and the open door on 1 too. The crates look great and fairly accurate, but there may be problems as they seem to be made out of a number of pieces each which does cause framerate problems. 1 of the resized pictures looks a little odd in the post in the areal shot. I will take a closer look now!
Beautiful. May I suggest making a custom gametype with no grenades or just one to start? Then you might be able to pass it as a semi-playable 4v4 Also only 19 respawn points is quite low, even for a small map like this. The contest does say you must be able to do 4v4 slay on it =/
Who's that good looking guy in red, in the action shots? Jokes aside, this re-make is spot on. The aesthetics are great, especially the cars- man I love those cars. I also like the crates, they have so much detail to them that you actually believe they're crates from COD4. Even though you can't use barrels, like you could in halo 3, the columns do a good job at replacing them. 4v4 was hectic, but I still enjoyed it. I think a 2v2 would be intense, as well. I do suggest you turn the motion trackers off, though. I was ninja'ing people left and right..hehe. Anyways, you guys did a great job on this. Keep up the good work.
I did manage to make a custom gametype for this map, which allows you to play 4v4 on it with a lot less framerate. The issue is though that the people judging/testing the map are not playing it on the custom gametype. Because it must be compatible with 4v4 Team Slayer. Even though it is compatible with 4v4 Team Slayer, I do not recommend it because of the issues. I cant do anything about the motion tracker, because the people judging are playing on regular 4v4 Team Slayer, with no gametype changes. Although I did remove the motion tracker in the custom gametype that I made. And yes, this map is designed and recommended for 1v1, 2v2, and up to 4 player FFA.
Didn't you help Black Theorem with Lockdown, Zatherla? Aside from that, I'm glad to finally see a submission into the contest. No one else is submitting anything. I'll DL over the weekend.
Yes, I think it states somewhere in the original contest post that 'users are allowed multiple entries' so I have co-forged two, One with Black Theorem, and this one. As to the contest submissions, The less the merrier!
I remembered back in the old days when I pwned my cousins, friends and my step dad on that map with only a bolt action sniper rifle. Anyway get on into the subject. Zatherla you've done an excellent job with the remake from CoD Modern Warfare not number two and three if people think which Modern Warfare? I liked the aesthetics on the map and yeah playing 4v4 team slayer gets very hectic. You've done an outstanding job on the remake. Very pleased with you. - EpICx ReMiX XD
DANG that sucks I just made this map for the contest!!*sadface Aside from that this map looks very nice love the crates they look very detailed and very original I love the aesthetics but that doesn't surprise me Zatherla you are an aesthetic forger. Now on to gameplay it looks like gameplay will flow very smooth but it doesn't look like a 4v4 map it looks like it would get to hectic with more than 4-6 players more of a 1v1 2v2 map great job zatherla and sky. I will try to post my version soon.
No offense, but I find it rather mind blowing that a map that is literally a couple of blocks thrown into a square arena can receive such praise as this. I mean seriously, 12 posts (13 counting mine) within a day. Kind of ridiculous considering what the map is here. Yeah, its a remake for the competition, I know. But really? Heck, SaLoT makes more interesting maps than this and he's done nothing but rehash Onslaught 50 thousand times. Anyhow, cool map bro.
I die a little bit inside every time I read this. A 1v1 map composed of 16 rectangles inside a square wall has framerate. I mean, yeah, it looks nice, but... really?
Thanks, and yes, I don't think in the original game that this map was intended to be for 4v4 deathmatch. I knew it was primarily based on 1v1 cage matches, and it played extremely well with them. Also, I can't wait to see your version! A little competition is nice Ah, Schnitzel. those 'couple of blocks' you have stated have took so much time to get this map scaled 1:1. (scale in building blocks; eg. 1x1 2x2) one crate in this map is 3.5 by 1.5 x 1x5. Timed by how long it takes to sprint, walk, and crouch along it. This so called 'square arena' has been put though a lot of thought to get it as close to the original as possible. But haters gonna hate, i guess :s It's not the layout that makes the map's framerate problems. It's the amount of pieces that have gone to aesthetics to make this map not only play like the original, but to actually look like the original too.
Does it matter? Anyways, well done on recreating the map, but the gameplay is decent at best (which doesn't surprise me) and there is framerate issues for sure. Nonetheless, good job.
Thanks, and I did cut down on pieces until it was good for 1v1's and 2v2's. and the gameplay really depends on what you're playing. 1v1's it's all about tactics. No grenade spamming or rushing. Compared to 4v4, which is just spawn, grenade spam, framerate, die, repeat.
Good job on the remake, this map looks a lot like when I played with my friends on MW. This map does bring back memories but what I would like to say on the downside was that the map didn't have the full effect on me as in Halo Reach, most CoD maps don't have a good effect due to lack of templates to forge on. The halo ring ruins the effect, sadly. I don't play any of them anymore except Black Ops and MW3. They were keeping me away from Halo for actually about a year so now I'm back but I don't really play MM anymore. This map design has inspired a map design for me though. Keep the work up. I just need some videos before my maps actually appear since I had them deleted some time ago. Good luck on Forging, keep it up and try to add a little asthetics because the bland oil barrels actually those thin-small stand-thingys... they could have been propane tanks or something but good luck and good day!
I didn't like how easy it was to get up onto the architecture. Having soft kills is nice, but I know my kids will abuse that as a shortcut should we ever play on this. Otherwise, I loved it. I may tweak the height of the containers... or just deal with it.
Yup. lolno. Clearly you've never played CoD2. I'm sure this could be an alright map, but it looks like you haven't put much thought into it. I won't be downloading this, but if it makes it into the final results of the Foreign Treasures contest, I'll consider downloading it. Good in luck the contest though, I guess.
