Coned! was a co-forge effort between me and my friend BubbleWrapLlama Coned is a map designed for HeadHunter with a mega twist, the drop point is a cone. No that is not a typo, the drop point is a Cone. Your main objective is to grab skulls, and head towards the cone which is also the drop point for skulls. Your primary weapon is a Concussion Rifle and your secondary is a gravity hammer. Both of these weapons are very effective for launching the cone across the map and angering your friends. The alternate gametype for team play can be found here Pictures: Scoreboard of Coolness: I hope everyone has fun with this map, I know I had fun making it. Hopefully it holds it's place on your hardrive for a long time to come.
Wow this looks great! Unique and extremely well made. A bit annoying if you're trying to get to the cone, but the fun factor outweighs that. Great job!
I played a few rounds with a group of 10 people on this game and we had a great time! The idea is simple yet feels different at the same time. I am wondering how you made it so the hill is moved when the cone respawns. Anyway, very nice forging! If you ever wanted to make any improvements making it only one 10 minute round would make it a much more smooth gameplay. Also consider making classes. Maybe having to choose between a jetpack with a grav hammer and concussion rifle vs evade with a sword and granade launcher. Be creative about it. Also my friend said it could be more fun with bottleless clips. I disagreed but decided to pass on the message anyway.
yeah I might update the gametype for one 10 minute round and I was thinking about using no time limit with a 25 point score limit. I might also add the different classes like you said but evade seems a little over powered since it allows you to get to the cone really fast. when I tested I tried bottomless clips but it was too hectic for anyone to score. Thanks for giving your opinion that always makes me happy when I see someones reply.
Dl'd and had a blast!! Had about 8 people in my lobby and we played it 3 times in a row before they got bored with it haha
Hi Hunter! I really loved testing/forging this map with you, and I'm glad to see it's getting so much attention. I just made my first thread on Forgehub, it has my 28 Weeks Later map on it, if you'd like to see. It should just be in this same section...
Nice idea. I played this a while ago and I have to say that it was a bit frustrating. Headhunter is annoying enough, bit when you make the capture point spinning around all over the place, it brings it to a new level of frustration
Love this. You are incredible . If there was a setting to give you bonus points for splattering someone in this case with the cone that would be awsome.
I am an offline guy so I remade this for my friends and I too play split screen and I found that KOTH works better.... Anyway thanks for hours of fun!!!
Okay...that is such an unbelievably creative idea! Couldn't believe that someone could find a good use for a cone in an objective gametype. Can't wait to try it!
Great map! having an drop off point that literally moves around the map adds a new level of difficulty that some objective gametypes need.
Coned It was expected that whacky gametypes would be created when Bungie announced that any object could be the hill. Coned is a great example of this which provides a unique and exciting gametype. It’s a fun twist that opens up a whole new way of playing headhunter. The object of the game is to kill the enemy and score it in the hill, where the hill has the possibility to fly across the map at any moment. Being armed with a concussion rifle and hammer, part of the fun is just knocking the cone across the map. This means that even if you’re having trouble scoring skulls, you can at least prevent the leader from scoring theirs. Some issues arise due to how the gametype is setup. A typical game should last about 10 minutes because that’s about the length that players can stand to do the same thing. Since there’s no time limit, it’s anyone’s guess how long a round could take. About 10 minute a round, combined with the fact that there’s 3 rounds, means that each game could take awhile. This can lead to frustration amongst players and brings down the enjoyment. Set it to a single round of 10 minutes would be best, or at the very least set a time limit on each round so players have an idea how long the game will take. Aside from this the gravity settings are a bit frustrating at times, since if you jumped and used your jetpack you could seldom land in the hill before an enemy blasts it away. Along with modifying the gravity, players also seemed to enjoy bottomless clips for the concussion rifle. This didn’t affect much in terms of gameplay since it was so difficult to hit the enemy anyways. The increased damage can be a bit frustrating in time because of how difficult it can be to stay alive, but then again it would also be a lot more difficult to get kills. Overall the gametype is great deal of fun that provides some exciting moments throughout. It’s much more exciting to score points in this, as well as keeping the enemy from scoring points. The frantic chase for skulls as concussion shots come screaming in and explode anyone that gets too close. The excitement of the scoring and failing balances out for the loss because of how amusing it is to get so close only to have the cone shot across the map from you. Being a free for all gametype it’s fair to say that the gametype is balanced. Everyone has an equal ability to score points, though it’s often the case that a few players tend to get luckier than others. This is countered by the fact that the unpredictable nature of the gametype creates unique and exciting game every time. Since damaging your opponents can often be difficult it might be beneficial for the gametype to switch to bottomless clip. If making this switch proves to make it too difficult to stay alive, modifying the damage settings might help as well. The hammer is also a good choice for this map, since it’s fun to knock the cone across the map with it, as well as smashing any opponent who comes too close. As a whole Coned is a very balanced gametype. Unfortunately the Team version of the gametype went missing as it would probably be equally balanced as the free for all version. The map mostly fits with the gametype and does not provide any unfair locations. Being an enclosed map it’s safe to say that there aren’t many durability issues. Although there are a few gripes with the overall design that negatively change the way the game plays. The map structure overall positively reflects on the gametype, except for the fact that there are the “crevices” that inevitably catch the cone. This makes the gametype less random and hurts the enjoyment of it all. If there were ramps or something of that nature that allowed the player and the cone to move more freely in those areas it would help tie the map together better. Aside from that there weren’t any major durability issues. As most of the gametype issues are covered in other areas, there weren’t any real broken issues with the gametype. The spawning was to be expected as it’s always a frantic fight; getting shot at on spawn wasn’t very common or troubling. Everyone would agree that the Coned arena is pleasing on the eyes. The touches on the wall were somewhat corny but still gave it just a bit of flare. The arena itself was very well constructed and provides a nice feeling overall. The stand for the cone was also appreciated as it fits the map well and provides an aesthetically pleasing stand. Overall the map fits well together. The use of grids is a little cliché and could probably have been done more tactfully with another choice. The corny grifball characters felt little out of place and weren’t really needed. The map would probably fit together better if these were changed in lieu of aesthetics that better fit the coliseum. It’s fair to say that Coned is a unique idea. The concept is only possible in Reach and thus it is a new and exciting venture. The concept opens up a whole new realm of possible gametypes and variations of the concept of a movable hill. Some suggestions for alternative version such as using a ball for the hill, or have multiple cone hills. Other variations might include setting it to be king of the hill or territories, though it might be too difficult to actually stay in the hill for long enough to actually capture the point. As a whole Coned is a fun and unique gametype that will surely inspire many future clones, and it deserves that flattery. Wow I love you Raider for choosing our map to be reviewed, it is greatly appreciated. I love seeing people take a likeing to the map and your criticism is welcomed. I think I'll update the gametype right now, maybe adding the bottomless clips like you said. I know there are a lot of requests for reviews and the fact that you chose this map is amazing thank you.
