Would there be adapter for to convert component video (red blue green) into composite (yellow)?

Basically what I need one for is due to my capturing setup, the signal would run from my xbox into my Huppauge in component, and then since the only video out port is also component it would have to somehow connect to my tv, which only has composite in jacks.

The next best option would be component video to DVI or VGA, seeing as I do have a computer monitor in this setup that supports those two formats.

I've done a little research, and would something like this work as an input to the monitor?

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get component HD to composite video working with a simple plug adapter because it's exactly that, HD, and (unless I'm mistaken) the connector you're trying to convert to is SD.

I think the DVI option would be better, though someone more technically minded than me is liable to waltz in here and correct me.

I did research, as I said in the OP and the component to comosite adapters I found all cost over $200. So it isnt as simple I dont believe.

Apparently VGA and Component signals are the same, just wired differently so I believe I read somewhere that Component to VGA was the best. But yet again, DVI isnt much different either.

    Anyone else able to help?

Goto ebay, search exactly what you need. Eg, "Gold plated composite to component".

There's lots of shops on ebay that have these kind of stuff.

BTW, it will likely be costly, it wont be a simple "derp convert", it will most likely be an expensive adapter to convert SD to HD compatible signal.

The convertor would be too expensive for what I want. I dont want to break thw bank because of it.

I found a few VGA an DVI adapters that werent that much money.

I'd go with Winston's link or something similar, if you said the others you found were $200+ you might want to research the one in the link for reviews. As for the DVI one, that would be the best for quality, but for convenience to you would it matter to you not being able to use your computer while capturing or would you not care? If I were you I'd go DVI fo' sho'.

Really, if I'm playing on my Xbox I shouldn't be on my computer, but yet I do still do some things. I skype my girlfriend a lot but my iPod helps with that. The only annoyance would be switching back and forth when capturing video.
