Coming in first this month is a map by yours truly (a Chunk). To be frank, I feel very weird writing an article announcing my own map as a winner, but here goes... Tron was a map I built during and after the 1v1 forge contest. During that time I did a ton of testing on 1v1 maps. My intent with Tron was to make something that created an experience that was much different than what I was having on any other 1v1 map. Generally when I've designed maps, I've had a very good idea of how they would play. My goal with Tron was to design something that I wasn't sure would even be playable. I built it with the distinct possibility looming that I may end up having to scrap the map after initial testing had been done. It survived that initial testing, and with fewer tweaks than I expected, turned into a map that plays 1v1's uniquely and superbly.

This month, we have a tie for 2nd/3rd place.
In Lacuna, CommanderColson has expertly combined rock, water, grass, and block to create what is arguable the most beautiful playable natural terrain map we've seen in H2A.
Lacuna is more than a pretty face though, it's a rare breed; a 1-sided objective map, with 1-flag and 1-bomb as its primary gametypes. As is often the case in 1-sided objective maps, the attacking team spawns at a low point, and must ascend towards the defensive holding place. With multiple possible routes to choose from, if you want any chance of achieving your objective then precise communication and expert teamwork are a must. Perhaps your biggest challenge as a team will be not to get caught admiring your surroundings.

Also coming in at a tie for 2nd/3rd is Short Circuit.
Chronmeister has continued to refine the map many months after its initial release, and that persistence has paid off. Short Circuit packs a high ratio of verticality into a small horizontal space. The result is a fast paced 4v4 map that required you to keep your head on a swivel, looking up and down as often as you look side to side. It's the kind of map that makes you wish Halo gave us the option to adjust vertical sensitivity. Though you may initial think it's always best to head to the high ground, to do so thoughtlessly would be a mistake. The power weapons and powerups sit on lower elevations, and if you ignore them you will regret it.
Join me in congratulating Chronmeister and CommanderColson on their wonderful maps. Everyone stay tuned to the ForgeHub Map Database for the latest and greatest forge content. Also, don't forget to submit your maps for a chance to be included in Community Favorites voting for the month of June.
