Text is crappy, and the white border ruins it. Get rid of both of that and then I will critique it further. EDIT: Maybe not so much the white border, but the black 1px in between it.
... naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah cool if you have something a bit more abstract more line art as well there's too much negative space not emptiness negative space cos emptiness is good 'n'all
i really like it... i think it would be cool if the line going up to the lampshade thing just connected with the line it ran into seamlessly
I don't love it... You're aiming for a nice, elegant style, which is fine. In this case, I don't think you nailed it. The most blatant imperfection, in my mind at least, is that the lampshade is not centered on the lamp pole. The text also does not fit the style. Not bad for a first, though. Experience will bring great success, especially when working with this style. Good luck, mate.
The pole beneath it isn't centered. Think about it: The entire lampshade is made up of sixteen stripes, so the center would be between the eighth and ninth stripes. The pole in the picture, however, is beneath the ninth stripe only. Always use guides to be sure. If you don't know what those are, just say so.
The text is just bad. The top portion is cut off by the lamp shade, and the middle by the pole. Try putting it down and to the right a bit. I know someone already pointed this out, but the lampshade isn't centered. Not very noticeable, but significant enough to be changed. I like the simplicity and originality of it all.
Original is better, just move the text onto the white border at the bottom and make the text black and a nicer font. Then have some illuminatory lines coming out of the lamp. Then add some jizz.
