So, I realized I hadan avian theme going with names so far for maps, so I decided to run with it for this one too. Has little to do with the map, but w/e. Anyways, its a four base rotationally symmetric map (as if there isnt enough of them out there already). Once I get done testing my other stuff and this I'll be posting them at the same time. Next time I'm on, I want to see this beauty. I'm interested in seeing your take on a four-way sym. map. That middle structure is gorgeous. Good luck on this.
Way prettier than my grid flooring map in Reach. Looks great from the pics, though these radial maps always seem to have interesting centers. I'd be interested to see what you've done with the rest. If I'm on feel free to invite me. I'd love to playtest this if I get a chance. Also, the middle platform with the railings looks bad. I think I would get tripped up on those railings a lot. You may want to search for a piece with no railings.
I'll have to show it to you guys whenever I get on, maybe your opinion of the middle will change when you see it in motion, I never thought those rails in the middle to be an issue when putting it together. I'll take that into consideration though. I'll also get onto an overview, little busy right now, so that might be in a couple hours. Edit: instead of replacing the middle, I added some columns to the rails to give them a little more bulk. I am however at max budget, so if I need to change stuff up it is gonna get tricky.
Just the other day I was playing a game on Vortex and was noticing the architecture of the structures. I fell in love with the "hexagonal" doorways, and planned on building a map with similar structures. But it seems you've beat me to it! Looks as good as I had pictured in my mind, and the rest of the map looks great too! Do you have a Beta version in your FS? I'd love to take a closer look at this! -Hydrolysis
I, among most others I would daresay, don't put a map into my fileshare until it is complete (as in 100% done with any testing). So you'll have to either wait for me to post it for reals when its done, or you can look around at it in forge with me sometime.
I do love the shape of this map. Although, the simple design of having four right angle bases, the tunnels (which are sexy as hell) make it all worth it. The center is a nice touch as well, not overdone and goddy. Well Done Aschur!
Middle jump is interesting. For a competitive map, you don't want to be falling down through objects without intention, and in the heat of battle it seems pretty easy to fall, or even mis-do the jump. I haven't played it, but there you go! I'm probably wrong, but I like the style and thought.
I may touch up that jump, as it currently requires you to be sprinting to make it across. I already did mke some small changes to clear up some budget to work with and I'll update the pics once again when I've finished with this current set of changes. (Trying to make some of the jumps easier for you to do without sprint, and making the outside a little more interesting.)
