Hey guys, EnoughLemon here. I've been forging since Vanilla forge in Halo 3 and while I haven't posted many of my creations, I'd like to think I'm pretty good at what I do.
My one issue though is that I get an idea that's really great but end up moving on because I get stuck. Does anyone else have this problem? I would like to start co-forging with members of this community. I feel like putting some of the most creative minds together could yield amazing forge results. If anyone would be interested in a co-forging I'm very open to brainstorm with and build off of ideas and vice versa. I think this would be a great way to become more social in what we put out as a community. United we stand and all that jazz.

I have the same problem with every map I create. I never end up finishing the map and I get stuck in a "forgers block". I'm currently at one on a forerunner map I've been building. I'm already starting to move on to another map.

As much as i love the idea of co-forging, i cam't brainstorm properly without visualising it from a top down perspective on pen/paper first.

I'm the same way for the most part but I feel like we could brainstorm an idea together and then we could both draw out a layout, maybe upload it via a facebook chat and go from there

In what ways do you guys get stuck or blocked? I'm curious cuz I'm not a real forger so I don't get to the point where I have to think about things like pathing, line of sight, balance, etc.

My ideas are more conceptual like trying to create or alter game types, game mechanics, team mechanics, gimmicks, etc. The addition of scripting got my attention, so I'm using Forge significantly more than before, but still not really making maps.

But I do have some ideas: terrible, crazy, good? I'm trying to get around to making templates, but haven't been feeling good and I'm not getting anything done. But if you could use some... different... ideas then just ask! Though, you might be sorry you did.

Here's two stupid ideas for fun:
    • 8-bit graphics with chromas. I think they can be set to normal-physics, so I wanted to make some old school vehicles. Ships from Star Fox or Space Invaders.
    • Side scroller: turn machinima on in game settings and control your Spartan from a distance. Use one-way shields to make floors you can jump up thru and land on. Have some barrels roll down, for crying out loud!
    • NOT AN IDEA, SO DON'T SAVE YOUR MAP AFTER DOING THIS: Spawn a Mantis and set its physics to phased. Lol

The fixed camera idea has always intrigued me. You could have a Conquest style game mode with machinima enabled offer different kinds of information depending on POV. Hadn't thought to combine it with 8 bit graphics though...

Oooh. Conquest being the top view, RTS kind? I want to try to spark a Grifball 2.0 deal, and one thing was to add walls on the court.

Two decades ago, lol, I played a game called Subspace instead of doing my homework, lol, which was us in spaceships blowing each other up in 2D top view. It had a soccer variant with walls that was fun cuz your team could line up a passing lane on the outside and you could rush the ball to the goal. Can't really do that in an FPS. We could add clear/translucent walls to grifball. But (now that you mention it) solid walls would almost force a player to use the machinima top view. Lol.

Wouldn't 3D controls for a 2D view be just awful?

I've been thinking about it and would be down with the idea of co-forging at a moderate or slow pace with someone. My interest in forge lately has waned a bit but if I had another forger to work with I think I'd enjoy it more (I like working in teams in general). Could be working together on finishing an existing project or starting a new one.

I'll respond to PMs here if @EnoughLemon or anyone else is interested. I have a few projects on my files that are varying levels of completion but I say my strengths are in design and blocking with lighting and aesthetics in the "needs improving" department. My process is usually sketch something (poorly) before starting so I'd be down with scanning and sharing drafts. No promise that those sketches will be legible.

You guys need to take all the good bits of each other's maps and smoosh them together. If by some miracle that doesn't work, then add some teleporters.

I'm definitely at the point where i think i need some motivation/help to make any traction on a project. If you ever see me online feel free to send me a party invite and if a good idea comes about maybe we could work together.
