I played with two guys earlier today on Team Slayer and Team Snipers pops up and one of the guys says, "dont even worry about vetoing", I reply,"dont veto" he says "shut up noob i dont have too" and then without the veto screen coming up, the map and gametype swich. He said it had to do with a standby button on the modem. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it considered cheating?
I've had the gametype and map change like that but I don't think it has anything to do with standbying or anything. I dunno. I wouldn't consider it cheating. If anything, it's pathetic that someone wouldn't want to play a game type or map so badly that they would standby to change it.
Any network manipulation is cheating. And Bungie has ways of tracking those losers down. I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, there are more effective ways to cheat than that, so you probably could have gotten it much worse.

Same thing happened to me last night in the MLG playlist. The map showed up and this guys says that he hates this so he is going change it. Oh well it changed to Onslaught which is an OK map
Dude, that scares the hell out of me... Hopefully, as Furious said, bungie will take care of it Maybe, he didn't do anything like that with standby buttons or anything. Maybe he could tell, as sometimes I can, that the map will change before the veto even comes, because it's taking so long to load. I don't know why, but that sometimes happens.
It has to do with not being able to load certian maps, lets say this guy has tampered with all the maps he HATES to play on. All he does is goes in to mm and if the hopper selects a map he has tampered with because he hates to play on it, then it will switch to a diffrent map because not everyone (him) could load the chosen map. by tampered i mean connecting your hd to your computer. ( not going into details, its best to let your minds wonder)
What seems most likely to me is the guy has a damaged disk or a corrupt file, and cannot load certain maps. If someone in the lobby can't use a map the system will change it (like the DLC maps in the normal playlists). He probably just says that every time a map loads which he can't access. I doubt anyone who has the intelligance to make such a mod and be able to avoid detection would use it to just veto maps then rub it in peoples faces childishly.

Not only is it pathetic to standby to change the map but it is even worse that he did it to team snipers, which is extremely skillful unless people slow snipe on a large map like Valhalla. The map failing to load happens every once in a while, but for him to call it out probably means he messed with it.
This is nothing special at all. Some people's profiles simply have problems loading certain maps because they have a bad sector on their hard drive or another problem, thus the map will skip and another will be selected without the need of a veto. It happened to me, I cleared my hard drive cache, and then my brother's hard drive messed up, it's not a cheat.
It normally isn't anything, but when someone calls it out, you know something is up. Think about it. How often does it skip a map? Now, what are the odds a guy predicts one of those rare times it skips a map? Slim to none.
This is a pretty common thing. What happens is that someone in the party has a scratched/damaged disk, which disallows them to play on certain maps. My friend's Halo 3 disk is scratched and he has this problem. He is not allowed The Pit or Guardian, which sucks because those are my favorite maps. When The Pit shows up, if it is not vetoed he is automatically booted and his Xbox restarts. When Guardian comes up, it automatically switches to a different map without any vetoing. About the gametype, it was probably a coincidence that the gametype was on one of the maps that he could not play. Or maybe his disk has a problem with that gametype, which is more unlikely.
Not Necessarily. Maybe he knew, and didn't like the gametype, and lied to you about doing it, since he knew it was going to happen.
Yep! I think it is that, and he just wanted this to happen, for everyone to be like "ooo coool! He can change it if he wants! You are 1337 man!"
No, Texas Horn that comment did'nt make sense. This a very common problem, just because he called it doesn't mean anything, I called it out to everyone when I had a problem with High Ground. Wow, he called it, so what, he knew he had a loading problem, when you can't load a map, it skips every time it comes up. There is no further reason to debate about this when the answer has been provided.
