Hello all, I wanted to drop by and let you see what I have been working on, and for my first Halo 4 map, as well as an entry to Forgotten Treasures contest, I give you Corrosive. Corrosive is a remake of Ascention and Pinnacle from Reach, but I made it mine with the help of the Erosion pallete. Which made it a really nice looking map. I have finished the map and asthetics and I have it set up for Slayer, so if you wish to download it, I have uploaded the newest version to my fileshare. Search Shadowcat AZ, it is the only one in the fileshare. ^ Loadout Camera View ^ View of Rocket Spawn ^ View from Banshee Spawn ^ View from Sniper Spawn
I took a look at this earlier and I think you did an excellent job of remaking it. Uno and I also agreed that you picked a good spot to build the map. Never being a fan of Pinnacle/ Ascension due to the map being far too open. This would be more of a casual map rather than a competitive map, for me. Nonetheless, you did a solid job on the map.
Its a sweet lookin map, but I reccomend changing the name. I have seen at least 5 different maps named "Corrosion". Its one of the most obvious map names from "Erosion"
Coming from you, that means a lot, thanks Eightball! And yes, Alec, I did think about changing the name, I looked up all the Corrosion names and thought there was a little too many, so I will probably release it as Corrosive instead. I have a little more work to do to it, and as my first map using the new Forge tools, I can say it was not as easy as it looks, but not that difficult either after getting the hang of it. Magnets are wonderful!
Wow this is awesome! I don't know what else to say really other than I really like the aesthetic twist you've put on it while retaining its old layout. EDIT: My only gripe over going back over the images is that, its floating. Needs more support structures to sell the aesthetics.
Shoulda posted screens of it when it's finished, I can already see TONS of missing things...looks really nice though.
on the 2nd picture, there is a platform, that I'm not sure should be included in the gameplay. it just look like you could fall there and stay stuck, unless you suicide.
You guys are great, thanks for the input!, I have finished it up for the most part, and if you want to try it out, it's on my fileshare under a new name, Caustic. Edited by merge: Updated: Name has been changed to Caustic and map is completed in Slayer. Map has been uploaded to fileshare, search Shadowcat AZ
This map is inspirational. I have heard so many people say that Erosion is so difficult to forge on because of the landscape being uneven and having predefined structures that you have to work with and cannot ignore. But this map actually forms a very strong cohesion with the existing terrain and keeps much of the bad sights out of sight. It shows that this canvas has real potential for forging. I really like the fact that you play close to the water, that green water gives it a lot of nice color as background. The existing structure acts well as a means for orientation. I played with this canvas and gave up because I could not think in terms of "The Cage", but clearly such designs are perhaps the best for this canvas.
I like the truthfulness to the original, but I feel like you've used almost all of the same pieces from the Reach version. More originality with the piece choice would have helped to freshen it up a bit, since most of us are familiar with every damn piece on Pinnacle. The pipes were a nice start, but the most obvious one from overhead seems difficult to find from the map itself. It's a great start, just a bit more and this would be great.
To be fair about that though, some of those pieces were designed specifically so that they could be used for pinnacle. Since the same pieces are still here, they might as well be used if the idea is to create a remake.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the great feedback you are all giving me on this map, but let's not forget Abstyler, he created this map as well, pretty much in the same place as mine. I found out he had done it too by accident, and I had not even seen his version before I first submitted an almost completed version. Making this map with the original pieces that Pinnacle used in Reach, that much is true, but the fact that it is not on an island made it difficult and the fact that some of the pieces in this version of Forge are a little different, so making them work together was a challenge too. The pipes really make it look up to date, as well as keeping the latout from what we know, this could be a challenging map as well.
glad im not the only one to do this remake and im also gald we used diff maps, only thing id advised against is the default sniper tower its too large and bulky i made one wasn't too hard.
I agree with SpinCycle with regards to the piece choices. If you could perhaps fit more unique pieces around the existing pieces, it may look a bit nicer. It'd also allow you to include more of your take on things, which is always nice to see in a map. I was never a fan of Pinnacle, but after seeing this map (and it's pleasing aesthetics) I might put up with it again.
