Hey guys, first post here, made this map a while ago but never got around to showing it off. Made for Capture the Flag, and is best when a large party is playing, because the map is quite large, also to maximize use of vehicles and power weapons. Here's from the front Behind the main wall What the attacking team starts with And finally, an overview of the entire playing field The flag is located on the second tower behind the main wall and can be accessed from a wall running adjacent to it Defending team spawns with 3 rocket launchers, a spartan laser, and 2 brute shots, along with 2 snipers on the very top of the main wall. The castle look nicely designed though slightly empty.Also, it seems like spawn-killing might be a problem (for the attacker side). The empty space in the middle makes the attacking team have a huge advantage if the flag gets outside the castle. And you have two choppers, two ghosts, two mongooses, a banshee, a hornet, a wraith, a scorpion, and what looks like some choppers or prowlers under the scorpion. That is far too much, and why are they flipped over..? This map is way too one-sided, even if the castle is equipped with three rockets and a laser (and even if it does balance out, it doesn't make for great gameplay). I don't see gameplay working well at all. However, on a brighter note, I do like the construction of the castle. I like the "pop-out" windows on the front and the dome on top, that's pretty original. You should get rid of most of the vehicles (leaving a warthog and a couple of mongooses at the most, and give the castle rockets with an extra clip), and check out forging 101 on this site for some tips for interlocking and ghost merging. If you like forging you may want to look into creating some purely aesthetic maps, with a little work I'm sure you could make some really nice ones.
thanks for the feedback, and first off, did originally make this map to be shown off as a 'wow! a castle!' and not so much intended for great gameplay. And you are right, spawn killing is usually a problem, it can go either way. Originally there was half lasers and half rockets, but that made it too easy for defenders so I switched to what it is now. Again, thanks
I will assume you have tested this with all of the power weapons and heavy vehicles. But the map itslef looks great! I really like how smooth and castle is and the fact that the assaulting team gets all of the heavy vehicles. I will dl and I will see how well it works with a party of 10.
i actualt tryed to make a map like this, but with 3 floors and two towers i the front. but well...i suck at forging.it looks good, i will test it later today.
What time are you guys going to test it? I'd love to play it with you, especially if we get a very large party
Astounding I downloaded this map a few days ago. the structure is great (aesthetic and functionality/glitch proof wise). The 2 flaws i noticed was the flag placement and the aircraft. The aircraft on this map in my opinion provide somewhat of an advantage, yet then prove pointless. If there are no heavys on the map the are an advantage. but if there are heavys, while it is pretty much an instant death for anyone who gets in a vehicle. the second thing i noticed was flag/bomb placement for ctf or assault. with the aircraft you can just zip up to the tower and then fly back. it should be in a more central area, per say a separate room on the floor of the castle wards the back wall. I love tower defense games also. my friends were complaining about it being to easy to get into the tower tho. In no offense to you i tried putting it into forge and adding small breakable/movable objects in front of doors,took out the aircraft, and replaced the heavys with several BR's, a few sniper rifles, and a single brute shot. This proved to satisfy them. now as they hit any one of the doors with a tank shell or other heavy weapon the door breaks slightly, eventually crumbling to rumble that they can then walk over to get into the castle. anyways, out of the gazillion maps i have downloaded the past few noob days on forge hub, this is without a doubt, my favorite.
