Well, I don't know if you could board the falcon, but I'm certain that you could stand on top of the falcon while it flies.
Yeah, carrying the core takes both hands pretty much like a turret ripped off of the base so think of it as the same way if you tried to get in a Falcon that only has two seats and those are for the gunners... But hey, if you fly slow and well enough they guy carrying the core shouldn't have a problem standing on top of the Falcon. ;D
Just make sure that whoever is standing on top of the falcon doesn't walk into the rotor blades, they're quite lethal.
I was playing a game of Spire with some friends and we were on the last phase. My friend had the core and I was waiting at the top of the spire for him. He jumped on top of me and flew down to the capture point, no hassles. It took us maybe ten seconds to get down there and he didn't even come close to falling off.
You can change the bomb carrier traits in assault to let them use turrets or drive, but I havent tested to see if they drop the bomb yet. (Mostly because I can't figure out why the bomb won't spawn.) I would think the same would apply to the core carrier.
I don't think they have the same coding as a turret. They may be held like one, but probably not the same coding. Reason I think this? In the beta, yes I know beta, but it should still apply, you could glitch to get a plasma turret on boneyard. Having not anticipated this, apparently bungie hadn't yet added the code where you couldn't bring a turret onto a warthog passenger seat. Hilarity ensued. At the same time however, the core would not allow you to get into a passenger seat. I'm pretty sure Bungie groups object to that have similar effects, to make it faster to code rules for each. For that reason I think core /= turret. At the same time, that still doesn't answer the original question. Which I DON'T know the answer to.
The physics in reah allow riding on a vehicle without the lag of halo 3. Combined with the falcons broad wingspan it can easily carry someone with the core.
I definately know you can carry a FLAG in a vehcile, I tested that yesterday with a ghost after changin the setting of flag carrier traits to Vehicle use: Full use.
I know 100% you can't carry a core from invasion in a falcon or any other vehicle. Haven't tested if bombs or flags can be in a falcon yet.
hey, i accidentally found this thread when i was researching the same problem for my own invasion match. however, i figured it out and thought id share. for the bomb: from what i can see, you have to set core carrier traits to 'full use' (gunner only doesnt work). for good measure, i set cooldown traits to full use too. bomb carrier can now fly/gun in falcon. he can also fire the gun without dropping the bomb. i'll edit this post when i find out about the core itself. edit: unfortunately, you drop the core when trying to enter a falcon no mater what the use is. looks like you'll have to use the ride-on-top trick or edit your idea.
I dont know if you could make this work theme-wise but what if you just left the core out and had a bomb instead. Then set the bomb carrier to passenger only. Maybe this could only work with a spartans attacking map, like there is a midway base with the bomb and what happened was that the bomb is there from a previous spartan attack and the spartans are coming in to try and finish the job. It would probably work better for phase two aswell
The core won't work in the Falcon at all, but I was recently playing around with an idea for a final stage in an invasion map. My idea also involved an air evac, but an Idea is not to have the core as what you have to retrive, but the hill you have to get the core too. Code something you can pick up as the stage three capture zone, and set the core to spawn somewhere where the average player can't get to it, or remove it from its housing. Such as a one way sheild (Or what ever suits your map) If you've done your coding correctly you should have what I like to call a "Hold X to win game" Feature and a way of getting the "core" On a Falcon or other vehicle. Just to clarify I only breifly tested this a few times and it did work properly, but I didn't get around to testing the respwan traits but hey i thought I'd give what imput I have lol.
Not sure if this will work, but have you tried dropping the core on the floor of the falcon passenger area and just fly the falcon away with the core inside?
Is it possible to have a core taken to a destination for phase 1. Phase 2 spawn a Falcon and have it set up as the core spawn. Get in the falcon and move it to it's destination.
I dont know about in halo reach, but in Halo 3 the gametype options could be edited to either allow the player to drive(or ride) the vehicle with the flag(objective item) or not.
I don't know about other forums, but usually reading previous posts within the same thread can answer that...
If you set core carrier to drive vehicles, then they can carry the bomb in any position on the falcon. The core is treated like the turret and you can never carry it on the falcon unless you stand on top of the falcon. And yes I said set the core carrier trait if you want to carry the bomb. I know it is really wrong.... [br][/br]Edited by merge: For the warthog, gunner position allows the carrier to operate and ride in the gunner position. This does NOT work for the falcon. To fly in the falcon in either pilot position or gunner position while carrying the flag or bomb, you must set to use all position for vehicles. this has the disadvantage that they can pilot the falcon or banshee, and thus eliminate the need for team work.
