So for my first map here on Forgehub, I'm trying (the operative word is "trying") to make an invasion map that follows a few unique ideas. First of all, there's no vehicles. And a hush fell over the crowd... yes, no vehicles, I'm attempting to make a completely indoor Invasion map based off of a hydroelectric plant (so yes, this will include obligatory geometry placed below water, but don't worry, it's kept to a minimum and done as artistically as possible), and the primary layout is this: PHASE 1: Spartans push against Elite offense to re-start the first set of generators. Cover is rather limited and has a sort of Conquest feel to it. (Territory objective) PHASE 2: Spartans move into a larger, more covered area where a BTB sort of fiasco begins where the Spartans must re-start the main generator system (Territory objective) PHASE 3: Spartans move back to the area where Phase 1 took place, but find their exit cut off by the Elites, and must capture their original bases once again to evacuate the plant (Once again, territories objective) So here's where my ignorance of Halo: Balanced Gameplay comes in; I want the layouts to not be so limited as in basic Invasion, but not be overpowering. I figured Phase 1 would look like this; SPARTANS: A) DMR, Pistol, Sprint B) AR, Pistol, Armor Lock ELITES: A) NR, Plasma Pistol, Evade B) Repeater, Plasma Pistol, Active Camo and Phase 2 would be: SPARTANS: A) DMR, Pistol, Sprint B) DMR, Pistol, Armor Lock C) DMR, Pistol, Dropshield D) DMR, Pistol, Hologram E) Grenade Lawn-chair, Pistol, Sprint ELITES: A) NR, Repeater, Evade B) NR, Repeater, Armor Lock C) NR, Repeater, Dropshield D) NR, Repeater, Active Camo (surprise, not Hologram) E) Concussion Rifle, Repeater, Evade Phase 1 looks pretty basic and solid to me, but is having so many variations of the basic headshot Rifles and differing AA's overkill? Will it result in stalemates? I want the action kept up constantly so there's consistent epic-ness (like in Heaven's Feel, but indoors), but I don't want to compensate gameplay for it. And here's the reason I didn't mention Phase 3 above; 'cuz I want to keep it the same except replace the repeaters with energy swords and create a new Class E with a Fuel Rod gun instead of a concussion rifle, but, for balance, remove any secondary and maybe give him Armor Lock instead of Evade. The room in which Phase 3 will take place is rather small, but cover is limited. Will the Energy Swords and Fuel Rod Guns be overkill? If so, how can I change the layouts to be balanced, but still chaotic enough to be fun? And on one final note, I plan on naming the map "This is War," simply because its cooler sounding than "The Hydroelectric Plant." Is that name to ambiguous or not? So thanks for your time, a newb sure helps the assistance.
