Here are some newly created floor plans of Velodrome. They were made in CAD and are extremely accurate plans of my map. I use CAD all the time at work so I figured I'd whip these out. Of course, they took longer than I thought, but I still had fun drawing them up. Be sure to click the bar at the top of each floor plan in order to see it more clearly.

If you haven't checked out Velodrome yet, see the map thread here.

Reminds me of Construct, which is a good thing. The biggest thing I'm noticing is how close the two teams' flags are.

Thanks for noticing that. I forgot to show the one way shield at the level one entry into the bases from the center area. On CTF games, you can only enter the bases through that door, but you have to exit the bases either using the ramps at the back side or the ramp up to the accessways. I wanted to be sure the flag runner had to have some exposure and couldn't just run through the protected area of the first level.

What program did you use for this? Is there any simple programs similar to this? I recently used paint to draw up rough copy of my map

These plans were made in PowerCADD. It's a relatively cheap program, but only when compared to AutoCAD. I like it a bit better than AutoCADD because it has more of an Adobe program feel. It's feels a lot more visually interesting and user friendly.

Agh, I totally prefer AutoCAD, but there is no way that I can afford it any time soon. How much did PowerCAD cost for you?

Also, this map looks really interesting, if the top may be too overpowering. Its best to keep Rockets away from the top of the map because they slay from above. However, they become almost useless from below. Just consider that and do what you will. The only other problems I see are of no consequence/could possibly fix themselves.

Can you render this into 3D or would you have to manually make it so?

PowerCADD costs around $1,000, but I received it as a bonus from my work a few years back.

The top of the map is definitely where all the action takes place. Maybe I should've thrown a power weapon on the level 1 center to get people to move through there more. I definitely needed a power weapon @ the skybridge, though. The whole concept of the map was designed around allowing players to have fun watching people fall to their deaths when trying to nab the rocket launcher. That's why the top of the map is so open and the skybridge is up so high.

I can't render it the map in 3-D using the floor plans shown. I'd have had to build it in SketchUp for that, but I figured if someone needed to see it in 3-D they could just download the map and see it in the game.

Thanks for the good feedback. I learned a lot by finishing this map and hope to use the lessons learned to improve my future efforts.

I am new at halo reach forge. My dad can draw in 3D Cad and create DWG and DXF files so I want to convert the 3D autocad files into maps for Halo Reach. Do any of you know how to do this or where I would be able to look and find out. Thanks for the help.

There isn't a way to convert CAD files into Forge maps. You can only build them in the game. I just used cad to show the layout of the map.
